I've always had OEM blades, which do the same. Just the driver's side, never the passenger side. Poor design of driver side wiper system, IMO. I've even tried hand claying and machine polishing the front windshield, and insuring that the wiper blade is clean, to no avail. Perhaps others may have a solution.

Hello all, wondering if someone had a similar issue with their V90/S90.
I'm currently on my second set of brand new Bosch wiper blades and on both sets, they miss a spot on the driver's side.

Is this a case of "go OE" and Bosch sucks or am I doing something wrong here?
I had the same with my XC90. Since then only OEM blades and I add vinegar or alcohol (cheap vodka) to the windshield washer fluid.

Ditto to the above. I went through three (!) pairs of Bosch with exact same issue and then finally went back to OEM and no issues. If you buy from FCP Euro they warranty them for life so I bought two pair and just rotate when one wears out, send the old back and then always have a fresh pair waiting!

He’s in Poland so FCP Euro isn’t an option for him.

Mine does miss a stripe on drivers side. On the way up it cleans perfectly, but leaves a stripe on the way down. I have just bought new OEM wipers and it still remains. Must be bad pressure from the wiper arm. I will try service.

You don't have to stick with OEM! I bought Bosch wipers and I had the same issue.
Bosch proposes 2 sizes for the V90 CC: the A297 S and the A 164 S. The A 164 S is slightly longer and will avoid having the issue with the missing spot.

I think the assembly in the scuttle must be twisting causing the arm to move away too far.
BTW I fitted Bosch and don't have a problem with OEM or the replacement. But OEM was noisy with a loud slap at the A Pillar as the direction reversed.

Interesting. I purchased A297S and had exactly the same issue (I purchased it to fix the same issue on some older OEM wipers). I will be sure to buy A164S next time.
However, I used the following product to solve the problem.
It simply increases the spring tension and the problem disappears.
I just ordered this. Hope it helps my car.

This is the same problem with Bosch blades on a RHD car, also on the drivers side.

Will be buying Volvo next time round then I guess!

Thanks all for your suggestions, i've spotted an auction that is selling the OE Valeo (i found in another thread the OEM Volvo blades are just rebranded Valeo 574462) wipers for dirt cheap, so will try to get my hands on one of those and see if it makes a difference. I also checked and my current ones are the A297 S so @GillesV may be onto something here.
@kit_mc2 I think you have to do a lot very wrong to put them in upside down? I'm not saying it is impossible but almost :)
@OldEngineer At the moment not very easy to due do to time / space restrictions, but will try and see if the new Valeos still present the same problem.

One thing i do know is that the OEM wipers that came in the car when i bought it did not have this issue, they were just wiping poorly because of age.

I'm glad I found this post, I was thinking the replacement refills I got at the volvo shop (and they installed) were bunk, big smear on that section. When I washed it the other day you can see trackmarks in arc shapes where the wipers are not being evenly applied. When I wash the car I put the wash mitt under the wipers (not enough to hit the hood) and go back and forth, so I am cleaning the blades. I have also put them "in service position" and wiped them. I guess they are only perfect while new.

I do the same AND hand clay and machine polish the windshield. The wiper on the driver's side still and always left a streak on the return stroke since I bought my factory ordered 2020 V90.
