I picked up a 98 V70R with 127K miles to keep some miles off of my S60R and I am very happy with the car so far. The interior is in Great condition and came with 2 sets of R mats
I will be getting both bumpers and the hood repainted to get rid of some minor scratches and rock chips but first there are a few maintenance things I need to get done.

If you guys can help me out with finding the best prices on parts for the following list of things it would be greatly appreciated! I was thinking IPD since they are having the sale but just thought I would check here for input also.

Timing Belt Kit Serial # 1211396 IPD price is $221 which I thought was a bit high
Water Pump IPD doesn't have the Aisin OEM available to ship
Rear wiper arm and motor (hopefully from a car being parted out)
Transmission Fluid and Brake Fluid
Front and Rear shocks & Struts (not urgent but on the list)

Thanks
Brian

Nice car!

I've had good luck with these guys for used: http://vandsautodismantlers.com/

S&G imported car parts used to be a very good resource, not sure of their current situation but check in with Dan at the Ann Arbor store. Tell him Rob sent you.

www.tascaparts.com is usually cheapest by far on OEM parts

timing belt system.

http://www.tascaparts.com/parts/1998/VOLVO/V70/R/?siteid=213668&vehicleid=1434003&diagram=9711175

water pump: $97

Transfluid/brake fluid....your local autoparts store

Front and rear shocks/struts:

First off, GET THE IPD SWAY BARS...hands down the best modification made for these cars.

Front: I'd suggest bilsteins from IPD, I love them.
Rear: Nivomat system, no real aftermarket. No real choice but IPD or tasca, about the same price

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Robtr8- I will call Dan in Ann Arbor- Maybe they can send it to the Grand Rapids location
BejinFbk- What exactly would I be looking for that would tell me its a wiring issue?
Avboden- there are 2 timing belt set ups for 98s that is determined by the serial # ...on Tasca I don't see any indication of which. Also would I just need parts 7-10 on the timing belt link? Also how are the Bilsteins? I am looking for a very soft set for the fronts- Michigan roads are horrible

First things first for the rear wiper. Make sure it's not the fuse!! I just bought mine at the end of april and mine didn't work either..

2nd thing, get a multimeter or a continuity tester and then pull off the trim that goes over the driver's side rear pillar and cargo window.. there are a couple of torx bits that hold it to the roofline, and look for the wiring harness behind it. You'll also have to pull the tailgate trim.

Disconnect the harness from the wiper motor and then again from the harness right above that rear speaker.. look for the wires on the big harness that match the wires going to the motor. i believe they are pins 7, 8, and 9. they're orange/black, yellow, and green/red. put your continuity tester on those lines and it'll tell you if that wire is broken. if it is, you can just pull the wires back and forth through the hinge area to find the split, and then the best thing is to just solder it back together. you can electrical tape it if you wish, but if you get yourself a small piece of heat shrink tube, put it over the cable before you solder it, and then just shrink it right around the solder area.

not sure on the first part.

The bilsteins are stiff as hell, that's why I love them. Probably not your best bet then. The Koni's might be nice? Anyone tried them?

Kons Sport Yellow front struts are close to stock struts when they're set to soft (but have better dampening manners), BUT .... they are adjustable up to full stiff so you an set them to where you like the ride the best.
Not cheap but GREAT!

Just got off the Phone with Tasca and they were able to verify what timing belt kit I needed and it was only $113 shipped!

Also picked up Transmission fluid, Brake Fluid, Power steering fluid, fuel filter, K&N Air filter, Cabin Filter, Water Pump, IPD Poly upper engine mount.. Now I just need to find someone in the Michigan area who can help me do the work for a decent price.

Hopefully after the above work I will be able to focus on replacing hoses, suspension and paint work... and then finally a few modifications...

Thanks for the feedback guys much appreciated and I will look into the rear wiper to see If it is a the wiring.

Either way I needed the parts for the work to be done and I never buy them from dealers or shops. I got a hold of my mechanic so next week it will get the work done.
