I just picked up my C70 today, so I guess I will be posting here.
A little bit about me - I have been involved in SCCA ITB racing for a while, been to countless track days/schools, and was into drag-racing in my early years. I am very familiar with modifying NA and turbo engines; I have owned/modified 3 other turbos in the past: Golf, SVO, SVO. However, I am new to Volvos and cant wait to jump in and find where I can squeez out performance.
I have purused the threads here trying to get what info I could, but any tips and tricks you all can provide would be greatly appreciated.
My anticipated mods at this point are:
Upsolute chip (this company is well-respected in the Audi/VW community, However, I used APR with my VW)
IPD springs
Bilstien dampers
If anyone has any feedback about these mods/companys, please by all means post them.
Thanks, and I look forward to learning and sharing with you all !

Welcome to Swedespeed C70 section indeed, it's nice to have another C70 owner to join our fast growing group.
Sounds like you should have very good idea on what to do with these turbo cars, pretty much just need to know some of these finer details and the limit for the next higher level of performance.
As far as ECU upgrade, I'm not too sure about Upsolute, heard few bad stories about them. But you can always try to talk Carlos who involves heavily with Upsolute for the Volvo cars.
If you don't mind buying some 2nd hand IPD springs and Bilsteins shocks/struts, I am going to have mine up for sales soon. Unless my friend Jesse decides not to purchase them from me after all, we can work this out for you.
So, again..welcome to Swedespeed...we have bunch of Volvo enthusiasts here that should be able to share some valuable info with you.

I'd be in for the springs.
IPD offers two sets on their site (not sure of the difference)
WS0514: $187.20
WS0714: $205.20
I was planning on purchasing some by the end of the month. Send me an e-mail when you are ready to make a deal. ([email protected])
My home is in Woodcreek, and my office is in Westlake.
What is the modified-C70 crowd like in Austin. Other than myself, all I see are stock cars poking around town.

The 714 is for the C70.
Yeah, that should be about the same time when my coilover arrives. I'll send you an email if the other guys decide to back out the deal.

Re: New to the forum (Lusso5)

Just FYI, I don't have IPD springs, I have the H&R ones. Used to have IPD ones, but didn't like the soft ride it had. If you are looking for the comfortable type ride, then the H&R is not for you.
I can sell you either the Koni (IPD sells for $348 for all four), or Bilstein(IPD sells for $246 for all four) at the same price. Even for the springs, if you want something really stiff, I can offer you PI springs instead.

You probably wont see very many modified C70's or Volvo's. Hell you probably wont see many Volvo's at all. Thats whats cool about them.
I live in Southern Ca and I see maybe 2 Volvo's day...tops. Although on the flip side I see about 6 Jettas every block I drive. Those things are everywhere!!! And so are Beemers and Merc's too.
Nevermind how often I see a C70. I only see a C70 maybe once a month if I am lucky. And then its usually a vert not a coupe like mine.
Just my 2 cents.

Those prices are terrific !
Send me an e-mail when you get around to selling anything. FYI I will be working in Houston Sunday night and Monday, and will be there all weekend of the 15th.

quote:
I would go for the H&R.

Good choice.

quote:
You are in Houston right?

Nope, you are mistaking me with the other guy.

quote:
I dont want to go lower than 1.5" though.

It won't be that low. I forgot how much of difference, but it's some difference you can see.

quote:
Those prices are terrific !

My bad, you have to use those numbers and multiply them by 2. The prices they listed are for unit prices. So, should be $266x2 = $532, and $348x2 = $696. You will be looking at close a grand to buy everything new.
I think I can definitely do better than that. Let me know if you want the Knoi over Bilsteins.

quote:
Let me know if you want the Knoi over Bilsteins.

Bilsteins. Not to knock Koni though; I have had Koni adjustables on my last 4 cars, and prefer them when I'm tracking. This car will not be tracked as much as my past autos have, and the adjustability isnt important, so I'm going to go with Bilstein; never heard anything but praise for them......
I wouldnt normally buy used dampers, because they arent that expensive to begin with, but if the price is right.......
How many miles do you have on them?
Why are you taking them off the car? - Coilovers ?
Before I buy your H&R's I'd like to know the rates and what the drop is.

We have Supra's, F-Bodys, whole lotta mustangs. My guess is you won't find a modified C70 in austin at all. Looks like it is you and me who will be mod'n their cars, and that's it. Have a good one-matt
Edit: If you ever want to race let me know, we can see who's 98' is faster.. haha
