What's up everyone. 1st post
I just bought an Black '04 S60R MT last week after leasing Volvos for the past 12 years and will continue to lease for the "Family" car.

Just wanted to say hi and that I look forward to having some fun upgrading and sharing in the community here. Thanks

(sorry, crappy cellphone pic
)

EDIT: also wondering where you NY guys bring your R's for service and/or modding? or are most people here DIY'ers? and if there are ever any get togethers in the area. Thanks again

Re: New to SS (DriftyMcDrift)

Welcome aboard. Lots of information to be gained by listening to some of the very experienced posters on the board. I've gained a ton of info from reading posts and asking questions of my own.

First thing to do is take off the exhaust bracket and remove the resonator. Search Exhaust Bracket and Rain Squeal and you'll find out why! Use Google Search. The other search just blows.

Good luck with the new R, and make sure it has all of its updates!

Welcome...we just had a person from SI with their R just sell theirs...and yet another window opened. Welcome to SS, as the second poster said....remove that exhaust bracket...

Your modding...can be done as a DIY depending on your mechanical skills...sometimes we have DIY days in NY where we help each other out...check out the NY thread http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=99757

The kid I bought the car off of put one of those Takspeed badges against the R on the trunk lid. Did a search on badge removal and found the dryer on low method to remove it. My question is: will heating it up so close to the R mess up the glue on the R as well? Cause I like that little sucker

Don't think it should. My badges were a pain in the royal ass to get off...

Just make sure when you're sliding fishing line/ dental floss to seperate it you don't go under the R and you should be good to go.

If you find ANY leaking under the vehicle, identify it ASAP! There is always that looming angle gear fear. Mine has been resealed once and all is well.
