I just took delivery of a 2001 V70 T5 from a fellow SweS user. The wagon drives and looks way better in person.

I drove it from Northwest Ohio to my summer home in Western South Dakota; over 1,400 miles. Average 26.5 MPG.

Current mileage is 233k.

I am mechanically inept. I get my vehicles serviced at either the dealership or a reputable mechanic.

One of my biggest barriers to purchasing a Volvo is lack of dealer network in the area. The closest is 300 miles away.

Here are a few things on the car I'd appreciate enthusiast input about:

Tires.
I'm buying a new set. Eighty plus percent of my driving is highway (cruise control on). In the past 18 months, I visited 33 states. I try to avoid snow but obviously can't avoid rain. I'm looking for safety, 50k miles. I plan to purchase and install them in Denver at a national chain (so If I'm in California, Florida, etc I'll have a better chance of service).

Interior.
This interior is in immaculate condition. I plan to keep it that way. What is the best leather care?

I would like a cargo security cover. Is it possible to locate one at a pick n' pull or similar for a reasonable cost?

Emergency Brake.
The boot on the e-brake has no wear; unlike so many Volvos of this generation. Maybe the prior owners never used the hand brake. I always use mine. Always, 100% of the time; be it an auto or manual shift transmission. Is that going to cause any issues? Taking a 13 year old, 233k mile car and just now using the e-brake?

Thanks for the input. Incidentally, the original owner took delivery of this wagon 13 years ago today (8/18) from Lawrence Volvo in Walnut Creek, California.

Cool, I'm feeling that way about mine at 171k. I'm planning a huge project coming up where I replace everything rubber under the hood, but it just keeps rolling and rolling and rolling.

Maybe get together next time I roll through the Front Range. I'm told by Brett up at Swedish that I'll likely see 400k out of Goldilocks.

At the rate I drive, that may be in 2017!

After a fresh oil change and tires rotated, I open her up in Western South Dakota. 120+ MPH no problem!

248.3k now. She's about to be loaded onto a flatbed tow rig.

I was rear ended this afternoon. All is I can say, thank god for full coverage insurance!

the ACV is definitely higher than its private party price.

That sucks, but I assume the Volvo did its job and kept you unhurt?
