So after 2 sets of OEM tires, I'm sick of paying $250 a pop for 12k-15k of tread life. After doing some research on the web I got these today, $488.56 out the door, I'm going to volvo next weds for my 30k service and an alinment. I took the back roads home and I must say I like them so far, quiet and great grip. I will keep you guys posted if I have any issues with them.
http://www.1010tires.com/TireR....html

I have had 2 sets of those on my previous 04 V70R. Great price, pretty good wet and dry and ok in the snow. For the money, I don't think they can be beat, but I am going to try some Continentals this winter, just for something different, but still well priced. I am not ready to pay up for the Michelins.
Jim

I'm specifically wondering what the tires did for the sidehop problem?
thanks

So after 2 months on these tires I must say I'm very pleased with them. They are great in wet weather and ride good. They are not as sticky as the OEM's on dry but I still feel good about pushing the car with them on. Just an update.

the first post says he bought Falken ZE512.
the link above to edgeracing pulls up a different Falken tire.. Azenis RT615.
are these siilar tires from falken or totally different ones?
the RT-615 sounds good...not sure if they would be as good as PS2s...or not.... to some extent you get what you pay for..but name/brand can also cost too..
what do you all think?

For the rest of us, we look for almost as good performance, but at a lot less cost.
The best alternative is the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. Awesome tire as well, and only $190 per tire.
Another great tire is the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2. I ran these and they were awesome on the ring, in the rain and on the autobahn, and survived 15 laps on the ring with half the tread still there. These were the best performers at the ring. Very cool aggressive tread pattern, but since it is unidirectional, a little more noise than asymetricals like PS2. These are $160 per tire.
Then you have the Kumho Ecsta Ku-19. Hard to find, but they are a PS2 clone for $125 each, and highly rated on Tire Rack. The Kumho Ecsta SPT (Ku-31) is what I'm running right now, and I'm pretty happy at $115 each (worldwide shortage of the Ku-19 at tire rack when I bought my UltraLeggeras).
But if I didn't care about money, and I wanted the best even if I didn't need it, I would buy the Eagle F1 GS D-3s, they actually won the C&D Tire Rack comparison, the Continentals came in second and PS2s in 4th.
Here is the legendary Car and Driver / Tire Rack comparison:
http://www.caranddriver.com/fe....html

correct me if i'm wrong but i think the performance of a tyre may have a lot to do with what kind of road / pavement it's being used on.
i see that you guys speak highly of the Falkens, however, they're not doing so well over here in Turkey. i'm on brand new FK451s and i don't like them at all. for the type of roads we have here, these tyres are too hard and too loud for my taste. plus they can't grip sh*t. i really like softer tyres like the legendary bridgestone S-02s.
