I've got several questions about R models. When I bought my 2005 V70R I couldn't get 18" rims. I'm happy with it and lucky nothing major has broken.
1. Why was the S60R available with 18" only?
2. If I put 18 or 19" wheels on, what problems will I see? I hate the wheel turn radius with the wheel rubbing already.
3. How reliable are the evolve performance parts?
4. Anybody else hate their car keys? mine are loose and batt cover trim broken.
5. Anybody else got other tips or gripes?

JRL mod is good to do as well.
just follow the forum and read the threads, you'll learn a ton. search search search as well, lots of good info. read the quick reference thread. loads of info there too. welcome to ss oh, and post pictures of your vr.

Welcome and glad you finally found us! I can help with a couple of these:

Quote, originally posted by sinisin63 »

I've got several questions about R models. US spec V70Rs only came with 17".
2. If I put 18 or 19" wheels on, what problems will I see? Re: New @ swedespeed (s140s)

I've just started changing the oil in my '06 VW GTI and I'll start changing the oil in V70R. Especially with the dealer prices. Where is the angle gear and what to look for?

Welcome Aboard.
I have an 04 VR with 18" rims and General Exclaim UHP tires. They do not rub at all through the full steering range. The VR 6MT is a great car and very fun to drive.

Re: New @ swedespeed (sinisin63)

IT WORKED!!
Here's my two babies. Like I said before, I haven't done any mods yet. I want to get tired of looking at my car in its original form. Then I'll modify it all at once.

Re: New @ swedespeed (rogersampson)

The car keys have gotten loose on the assy. One of them was replaced by the dealer warranty last year. But it has managed to get loose. But the battery cover where the R is has a small plastic black trim and half of it is missing. This goes for both my car keys. I do my best not to drop them and I keep it in my pocket with no other junk in my pocket.

I have 2 keys and on both the locking pin is busted so they stay open. I split one in half and took the spring out so at least now it closes, but in the process i broke all the tabs that hold the key head together. The super glue i used is still holding but it looks like crap and it has only been 2 days.
so yeah i hate the keys too

Tragically I'm in Columbus, Mississippi. I'm from HOU*TEX. The only thing keeping me here in MS is my job.

As has been said, nice rides. My advice is get out and drive that thang and enjoy it. Too much time is spent commiserating about these R's and not enough time on the road. Good plan if you can do it to do a bunch of mods at once. Just be sure and check past posts on the different mods out there.
