Hello,
Just wanted to post a new owner of a S40 2007 T5.
-Metallic Silver
-T5
-Geartronic
-Premium Package
-Dynamic Audio Package
-17" Wheels
-Remote Keyless entry
Wanna say that its a nice car, much much better than th 2.4i loaners i've been getting recently. We got it for $438/mth with $3700 down, traded in for a 2004 325i BMW
It's a good complement to the new cars bigger brother, the S60R sitting next to it in the garage.

I envy the fact that you have your car. Assuming the shipping schedule is accurate and that the boat hasn't been sunk by a hurricane, mine hits Panama tomorrow, and will take another month to reach me in California :-(
OSD is a great experience, but this whole waiting thing takes too long

How does the T5 compare to the 325i?
On the waiting issue, I BTO'd my 06 T5 on 11/18/05 and it didn't arrive at my dealer until 2/18/06. THAT was a long wait.

Re: New S40 Owner! (jevo)

the 325 is a *very* nice car to drive. the road handling is superior to that of the t5, however its horrible for long trips, especially if you got the leatherette. You'll be dripping wet with sweat, and the speeds are as hard as rocks. The steering on the 325 is much much tighter and gives very nice feedback as to what your driving on.
Having said that, the t5 is nice to steer as well, not as tight, but you it goes exactly where you turn it like the 325, without the need for muscles (my wife who drives the t5 loves the steering on the t5 compared to the 325). The t5 also has more pep going up hills and off the line.
But one thing i did notice, is that on a freeway, even thouh the 325 has little power, it accelerates quick at 65mph, t5 does so too but it "feels" like the t5 is working harder to get up the speedometer than the 325. might be cos of the extra cylinder, who knows.
Hope that helps. 325 is an awesome car, no doubt about it.
One thing that does have to be said about the 325, is that (atleast in the 2004) it feels like its made out of metal, ie - they took a block of metal and carved the inside out for you to drive in. the volvo doesnt feel that way, it feels like a shell with stuff added in giving it a hollow feeling.

Very good description of the 325 vs the T5. My girlfriend has a 325 while I have a T5. Her car definitely feels tighter when driving. It also just feels more "substantial"... more solid.
Regarding acceleration. Use the manual mode in the geartronic. When I want to rapidly accelerate I drop down to 2nd or 3rd gear and the car just takes off. Nice feeling.
