Whoa, chrome mirrors! That must be like a street version of the different coloured mirrors in the Audi race cars to distinguish what driver is pitting! Cool.
I hate that grey plastic trim on the bottom of the doors though, what the heck is that!!! It doesn't belong. Is that to remind us some SUVs have side steps there? Blah.
Aside from that a pretty spectacular lookin machine.

Yeah...even it only has few subtle differences than the new A4, but it sure looks a lot sportier just with those touches. The headlights are pretty awesome. I just hope they will paint the bottom side molding or get rid of that as the production ones are out.
The front is looking less like the Passat-like than the regular new A4. But still got that weird A6 like tail, right?

I hate how they copied the 330ci fog-holders.
I just don't think the car looks aggressive enough, the old S4 was subtle, yes, but this just looks too..... i dunno, cumbersome.

Did they give the sedan the same A6-ish rear end that the new A4's have?
I like the S4, but I don't like the new (2002?) redesign of the A4.

Wow, the pictures are already out, nice! I really love the chromed mirror touch that Audi uses on their S/RS cars. This car looks very subtle, even more subtle than the S60R IMHO. This could be a good or bad thing, I am not sure.
I agree, with the others, the plastic trim on the bottom of the doors doesn't look right. It looks kinda weird, I wonder why they did that?
344hp 4.2 liter V8 and 0-100 kph in 5.6 seconds sounds pretty awesome though. It will be pretty neat to see how the S60R and S4 stack up to one another.
I see a nice comparison in our future!
Here is a nice profile shot of the sedan:

-Drew

I've always admired Audi's conservative style. Heck I've liked Volvo long before the cars took on an attractive shape to the average person. I guess reputation and my perseptions on how well a car is made effects my styling judgment somewhat. If GM came out with a clone-A4 I would probably say it is ugly
Well I try to be fair...

I guess it does 0-120 in like 20 seconds, so it'll have some fairly good high end power coming out of the V8.
Basically it's the engine from the S6, only a lighter block (weighs same as the 2.7 Biturbo engine). Which is good for weight i guess, but bad for tuning.
Oh well, look for the APR turbo kit the day this thing comes out, sweet jesus, can you imagine.

At first, I didn't like the looks of the new A4. But I used to own a 98 A4 so I was a little biased. It has grown on me and this S4 isn't all that bad except for the side moldings.
I think that all of the current S4 guys are upset that that can't just add a chip and get more hp. And they seem to be caught up in the idea that it has to be much faster than the M3, which it doesn't appear to be. I think that Audi did a good job. There any many V8s that rev up to 7000rpms and deliver near 350hp. Besides, how will they sell a RS4 if the S4 stomps all over everything on the road?
They will adjust and learn to love it once it's here. I wonder how much this puppy weighs.
[This message has been edited by Carl Sims (edited 09-17-2002).]

It looks a little to plain jane IMO. I think for the general population, the new S4 will disappear in traffic. There's nothing that screams "Damn! That's the new S4." I still would buy one though
