I bought my 06 t5 used and the in-car menu says there are 3 remotes associated with the car. Can a dealer remove the other remotes without removing the currently associated one?
I'm also looking into getting a spare remote (as the car only came with one) and I don't really want to pay the $250 that my mechanic quoted. I saw that you can get one cut here: http://www.trademotion.com/par...=3197 for $115. How much should the software and binding for the remote cost? AutoPartsPeople also lists the remote but for $72.43, but they don't mention anything about cutting (http://www.trademotion.com/sho...gid=3). I can probably cut the key myself, but does anyone know if AutoPartsPeople is reliable?
One last thing, the first time I looked through my in-car menu I was able to get to the audio settings that included the speed sensitive volume setting, but now that whole menu disappeared. Is there a specific way to get to it? Should I get a dealer to reflash the software in my car? Maybe I should disconnect/reconnect the battery to reset the computer?

I paid $91 from them, a real volvo dealer. THen I paid around $100 to get it programed. Prob just a software bug.

All remotes must be present to be removed including the remote code and you will pay somewhere in the range of 32-40$ for the SW and a half hour labor rate to have it programmed.

When I got my car, they claimed they didn't know where the second key was, and that if they couldn't find it, they would get me a new one. I waited a while, and ended up getting a new one. It looks to me like a brand new key, and in my settings, it shows that only two keys are programmed to the car.

Wow, that's pretty lame that you need those codes to remove the remotes as well. Someone could easily just keep their remote after selling the car and then drive away with it. Maybe there's a way and not many people know about it, like the auto windows up/down feature. Is there an email address at volvo where I can ask questions like these?

Well to remove you dont need the remote code but just like programming which requires a code i would suspect it would be the same.
