Just bought myself a 04 S60R. It has had it's 60K service done. The brake squeal is killing me so that is the next step for me.
I was just wondering what else i should be doing to the car? what other TSB's do you guys think neccessary?
I'm in the process of getting it clean and detailed to my standards. I think one of the rims was refinished, really badly. I cant seem to make it shine like the other three so i may have to buy a new rim or refinish it.
Other than those few things, this car kicks butt. It has to be one of the most fun cars i have driven. I can't stop listening to the engine when i'm driving. i just wish it had a little blow-off sound to it.
i'm planning on doing the "JRL" mod pretty soon as well.

Go to a different dealer. It appears that your current one is incompetent to look for the TNN that addresses the brake squeal.

my warranty goes to 100,000 miles or till 2009, so these tsb's/tnn's are still done by dealer for free, i believe.

ANyways, too many assumptions, sorry.

I would definetly suggest downloading the newest software anyway. If the previous owner wasnt complaining about all the little things us swedespeeders do, then the dealer wouldnt have touched it. My 04 locked up for a while the first download so have alittle extra time (just incase). Then drive it like you stole it these cars need to be driven!

could problems come up with the car after i download the latest software? i'm loving the car at the moment. i don't know if it could get any better than it is now, (besides the brake squeal).

Depending when your R was built, it may have Rev1 or Rev2 which are stiffer than Rev3 and Rev4 which many were not happy with. I would recommend avoiding unnecessary downloads unless your car has the 3500 RPM stutter. Even then, only ask for this fix and nothing else (except brake dampers).

But DO update your ECU.
Also, I noted my '04 had the seat rocking problem.

legbend.
i got my R in virginia. it has 60k on it. once i heard about it i couldn't resist. color i liked, and leather i wanted. i ended up getting all the maintenance records, and finding out an old dude drove it. maintenance was all done at volvo, and the 60k was done even though it was being traded in.
it's in pretty good shape, nothing a little TLC won't fix. and i got it for a decent price.
well worth the ticket to virginia and the drive home was more than i could of expected.
you'll find quite a few in the area, but it's hard to find the exact one you want. i found a lot with the blue leather, not to my liking, as well as a bunch of autos.
i have a guy here who can look for one at autction if you want. he's specifically a volvo guy.

Want blowoff?
http://www.eurosporttuning.ca/...60-en
The KKK turbo has a built in valve (diverter/bypass). After this mod, I have heard so much more noise (good noise, and very noticable from inside AND outside the car) from the turbo, as the increase in air volume and density has made quite a difference. It is a nice way to get "blow off" (no whistle, just "whoosh" and under spirited driving in cool weather, that noise can be followed by and "tsshhhh" which I love. There are cheaper intake mods to be found on the site with perhaps an equal effect. Do a search for Cold Air Intake, and you may get your "blow off" quicker than you think.

I much prefer my R with the later rev versions that changed the 4C, So that "ADVANCED" is stiff but not to the point of shaking your teeth out.
Since I re-installed my CPU with the IPD stage II upgrade, I hear the "BOV" air release sound almost every time I lift of the gas. The upgrade is a very healthy hike in power, so its definitely 2 thumbs up in regard to power and turbo blow off sound.
The IPD racing (forget the actual terminology but the thicker set of bars) sway bars are a must have if you want a decent handling R. I was amazed at how much better my R handled after the upgraded bars were installed. The main difference is reduced understeer and better rotation.
Enjoy!
