Since there are so many people still asking about 18's, lowered or not... here are a few pics of my car, just back from the shop with new Heico springs installed.

you can see pics of the same car with 17's and 18's before it was lowered in this thread:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=58907
Re: New pics, now lowered (V50AWD)

Looks awesome! Like many, I have been debating on weather or not to lower my car. I think you helped me make up my mind!

That's the way the car should look like from factory.

looks awesome! I need to get my S40 w/ 18" medeas lowered too, but I think the Volvo lowering springs will do for me. The ride is already so hard that if I went any lower than the Volvo ones I dont think I could take it anymore

Re: New pics, now lowered (s40turbo585)

The Heico AWD springs are only a 20mm drop, which I think is the same as the drop the Volvo springs...
BUT the Volvo springs are not available for AWD? At least not that I have found, anyway.
(oddly enough, the Heico site even says their AWD springs drop 30mm, but they contacted me after I ordered them to say they are only 20mm for AWD due to camber issues if you go any lower)
So far I do notice a stiffer ride, but it isn't unbearable. It looks 'right' now, whereas before with the 18"s and standard AWD height it definitely looked like the car was wearing "flood pants"
Cornering is solid, but it has been raining HARD here since I got the springs installed so I have not pushed the car too hard yet.

Re: (quick)

^^^
I don't have the alignment specs from the dealer, but I did look at the work order and they were able to get all four corners within the 'accepted tolerances' as specd' by Volvo... so hopefully that means they'll acknowledge that any potential warranty claims are not related to the aftermarket parts.
So far I've been getting all my work done at the dealership, which they have been cool with and they're actually stoked on the car. I know I could DIY some of it, and have DIY'd some upgrades that are not prone to warranty issues, but I think building the relationship with the dealership might be good down the road.
Call me crazy, but close to stock is a nice line to walk right now...

Looks awesome.
Have you had your exhaust tips moved out (extended) at all? I have the body kit from the factory, but my exhaust tips are tucked way up under the rear valance. Yours definitely look better and are more visible, though I still wish they were closer to level.

Re: (GoBigRed)

^^^ I have the Volvo sport tips on my exhaust, which is just a cheap bolt on, but fills out the OEM rear skirt better than the tips on the stock exhaust. Until I have the $$ for a full exhaust, they'll have to do. I'd like them better if I could get them level, but because they bolt onto the stock exhaust, they want to stay at the same angle...
From the Volvo site:
"A highly polished end-pipe in stainless steel that further enhances the car's sporty appearance. The end-pipe is 1.181" longer than the original pipe, while the diameter is increased from the standard 2.677" to 3.149" and are sold in pairs. Note - the featured tail pipes are only for T5 vehicles with a body kit installed."

Surfer_Bill, perhaps a stupid question (and I apologize) but did you put the Heico AWD springs on? or just the regular ones? For some reason your rear looks quite a bit lower than the silver one on here that just recently lowered. Unless you have groceries in the trunk then nevermind

Ok so question,
I have DSTC which includes the Volvo sport suspension (lower springs). How much more of a drop will I get from throwing say, Hecio springs in there?

Re: (cbeerxx)

I don't think that DSTC gives you anything other than DSTC. The Dynamic Trim Package (DTP), includes the sport suspension. But I get confused at that point, since a t5 AWD has the sport suspension included, but....also seems to sit higher.
I dunno. Anyway, I'm fairly sure that DSTC doesn't have anything to do with the sport suspension.

Re: New pics, now lowered (surfer_bill)

Your V50 AWD is the same model as mine. I too got the exhaust extensions, but as you can see from the photo they are very low. Does your rear valance have a cutaway for the exhaust tips to allow them to tuck higher up? I am really unhappy with the look of the tips and will upgrade to a Heico exhaust if I can't get this resolved.
BTW, did your dealer install the Heico springs? If so, did you buy the springs from them? If you don't mind me asking what did they charge you for springs and install?
Thanks!

Volvo does sell a set of lowering springs, but they are an accessory, and not included on any factory configuration of the car.

mullmann- you may be inccorrect about that not lowering the car or maybe i am....I got the dynamic trim option on the 04.5 I had and it was advertised as 20mm lower. I guess they may have changed it or were lying but i would assume this is were the information came from

Re: New pics, now lowered (mlenox)

mlenox,
the rear valence has cutaways for the exhaust and the bolt on tips, but I can't get them quite as level as I want since they attach to the stock exhaust (which already points down a bit).
The springs were $359 from http://www.eurosporttuning.ca and are the Heico AWD springs (which as mentioned above are listed as a 30mm drop, but the folks at Eurosport called me to confirm that they are only 20mm for the AWD kit).
Install at the local Volvo dealer was about $350.
