Hey all, wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I'm new to SwedeSpeed and, as of yesterday, the delighted new owner of a 1973 P1800ES. I've driven Volvos since I learned to drive (1989 240DL wagon, 2000 V70XC), and I've coveted the 1800ES since I got my current daily driver, a 2011 C30 R.

I found this one on Craigslist after seeing it parked on the street near my office in Palo Alto and just brought it home yesterday. The car is cypress green with saddle tan interior, 116k miles, manual transmission. It needs some work (high-priority items are the exhaust smell in the cabin, non-functional turn signals and headlights, etc.) but overall it's in very good condition for a 42 year-old car: minimal rust, paint in good condition other than a few small chips, leather seats in good shape, and drives very nicely.

Pictures below, second of which has my C30 in the background. This is my first classic car, and I'm looking forward to getting to know it and the community here!

73 ES in Atlanta GA. The 73 has several "that year only" features that make it a bit unique. I'll keep an eye out for you on this forum as you go through stuff and hope to offer some useful advice.

Having fun!

A nice addition. Looks like it might actually have a little more useable space in the back (length wise) than the C30.

Congrats on the purchase. I have an earlier year version if the same colour combo - took 4 years to find the "right" one for me. This is an excellent forum with expert advice that has helped me tremendously over the past few years with all my Volvos (currently at 4....). Best of luck with the early Christmas present.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum. Always nice to see another Bay Area guy with an 1800ES and a C30 :)

Do you know about the annual Volvo club meet at Davis in the spring? There's a fantastic 1800 community that turns up there every year.

Nice find. You'll want to contact Mike Dudek at iRoll Motors in Gilroy. He is the 1800 specialist/parts guy.

Davis is a wonderful show, but not sure it's happening this year. Club prez has gone silent.
