New owner here, so a quick hello....

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to make my first post to introduce myself. My name is Al Larson, and I live in Surrey, BC, Canada. I own and operate a shop called Pacific Auto Restorations Inc, which encompasses 2 other shops. The first is my baby, called Seams Perfect(www.SeamsPerfect.ca). I started it nearly 3 years ago, and have been growing it steadily. Steady to the point that I just purchased a second shop, called Classic Image Automotive. It's great running 2 shops, but the problem is, my poor old 84 BMW 533i is letting me down a LOT lately, and I'm too damn busy to fix it. I made the decision to buy a new car, and only 3 of them interested me. First was a Mini CooperS, next was a C230 Coupe, and the third was a V50. Despite years of owning BMW's, I'm not terribly thrilled with their new stuff.

Mini was WAY too small for work purposes, Mercedes Benz dealer was a jerk, and the Volvo dealer was a nice guy. Plus, my dad has been driving Volvos since 1988, with his first 745t. The V50 seemed to be a very good fit.

I went and drove an S40 last night, and was quite impressed. It had premium package, 17" wheels, T5, 6 speed, AWD. Barrents blue over Quartz leather, and audio package. Definitely liked the drive, but wanted something a bit different.

So, I got the call today that they found me new ride. It's a 2006 V50 T5 AWD. Black over black leather, 6 speed, sport package, and audio package! I pick it up on Saturday, and I can hardly wait. I'm absolutely ecstatic with my choice. Being in the automotive business, and very much and old car guy, I've never owned anything newer than 1987. This will be a BIG change for me. Plus, it's my 30th birthday on Friday, so a pretty nice gift to myself.

I hope to spend some time around here, getting to know you guys, but I have to spend even more time working, so I can pay for the damn car!

Finally, anyone have a picture of a black one with the sport package? I am absolutely going crazy, waiting for it, and would love to see some pics.

Thanks,

Al

Welcome and congratulations! Lots of information in these forums... Almost every topic has been discussed at one time or another. As some on the forum say, "search is your friend". But a word of warning... the search engine is VERY picky. You have to use exact words. For instance, I was looking for an archived post for headlight brows, I searched for "eye brow" and "eye brows", neither of which turned up relavent results... UKMatt found it for me using "eyebrows". Oh, and if you can't find it with search, just ask Mulmann and UKMatt, haha
They're pretty good with the search feature.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. I've been around lots of internet message boards, so I'm familiar with the search function rules, have no worries.

I called my sales guy tonight, to ask about possibly taking delivery tomorrow(Friday), so we'll see if it can work. If not Friday, then Saturday for sure. I'm sure I won't be sleeping very much for the next couple nights!

Welcome also. There are a few V50s around in the Lower Mainland and I always wave to any I see. Hope you enjoy your ride.

I've seen very few of them in the Lower Mainland, but I will surely wave when I see one coming the other way. Mine is currently on a truck, coming from Volvo of Coquitlam, to Volvo of North Vancouver. 10am tomorrow!
