Hi to everyone in Swedespeed.
I just subscribe to this forum cause last week i bought a used 2002 S40 with 47000km (about 30000mi) dark metallic blue with beige leather interiors and i am very satisfied with the car.
I live in Mexico City, i'm an industrial designer and work in a Marketing and Advertisment Agency called Ogilvy (WPP)
I have a coulpe of questions about the car and the forum.
Is there any way to change the password???? because i couldn't find anything about it in user setings.
The first owner gave me a metal key that it's supposely for locking the antena but i cannot find out how to do it, and couldn't find out anything over the owners manual or the internet.
The owner just did the 30000miles service last month so supposely i won't have any other expenses in the next months (hopefully) but i would like to know what should i do to keep the car free of issues for the longest time.
What are the most common problems of these model.
Al last, i would like to know if there is any way to improve braking, other than installing a big brake kit.
Thanks very much in advance for your coments and advices.
I will post some pictures as soon as i wash the car, polish it and wax it because the car is yelling for a full exterior detailing that will be done over the weekend..

welcome! this is one of the sleepy sites on sweedspeed. you might also try; s40concepts.net. i believe there is one guy from the DF.
considerations; if turbo use synthetic oil like a mobil 1, etc.
for braking i stick with the newer oem pads. i have 46k miles one them and they do a good job for me.
many of the people here have great knowledge about volvos and most of it can be transfered to the s/v 40 series.

My preference is the Power Slot rotors, to avoid the possible metal cracks at the drilled points in the rotors. I also prefer the semi-metallic Mintex red-box pads in use with the above rotors.
Not knowing the 2002 tranny fluid requirements, if it is ATF, I would recommend a PRESSURE FLUSH, and use a synthetic. Do the major service mtce. per the manual. Oil is the life blood, and follow the mtce. at 7500 miles or six months--even when using a synthetic!
Be kind to a cold engine and turbo, and NEVER go pedal-to-the-metal unless one has a good 10 miles on the cold engine for proper warm-up of all engine components.
