Hi forum,

We took delivery of our Bursting Blue Metallic T6 R Design last week. It’s optioned with rear heated seats, booster and red key. We got an amazing deal on it at 17.8% discount. The pricing thread was really helpful finding the right deal.

So far I’ve purchased a screen protector and front tow hook plate mount(shout out to the PA dealer for not installing the mounted one!)

This is my first Volvo, and I’m eager to learn about it. I’m a semi pro diy guy having owned mostly Volkswagens and BMWs(I love Bursting blue for its resemblance to Estoril Blue). I maintain my 2009 135i Msport Cabrio right now and will do in between scheduled maintenance on the XC90.

I look forward to contributing!

Welcome to Volvo and enjoy your new vehicle!
Do you have any pictures you can share of your new rig? (Sharing using Tapatalk tends to be easiest)

Along the lines of protection; you might also consider paint protection film (PPF) and headlight/foglight lens film: https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?527874-DIY-clear-paint-amp-headlight-film

For the paint, there is a Volvo accessory that is made only for Bursting Blue to give it a matte appearance: https://accessories.volvocars.com/e...Document/VCC-515675/2018/T6 AWD/Automatic/all

I've never seen anyone post pictures of their vehicle with this matte option. Having said that, aftermarket clear PPF films come either in gloss or matte. I imagine the latter has similar effect as the BB specific Volvo accessory.

Thanks for the suggestions. I previously read your diy post. Great work! Yeah I was thinking about doing the front flat surfaces and the headlights. Trying to decide if I can do it myself. I did see the matte oem film kit. Cool but the matte thing is a bit of a passed fad. I’m also looking into diy ceramic coating such as opticoat.

I also want to get the rear bumper protection plate. Trying to decide between oem and aftermarket.

If you've done DIY auto window tint, then PPF is easy. If you've done home window DIY film (either tint or clear security film or reflective), then PPF is about the same.

As noted in some threads here, there is an aftermarket (there may be only one unbranded model carried by many vendors) that protects more along the length of the vehicle. Or, you can apply PPF on the entire rear bumper cover and be done with it. Maybe add a 20mil clear film (note: most PPF are at 8mil thick) exactly the same shape as the aftermarket rear bumper protection plate.
