I wondered the same thing. I believe we've already had these already (depending on market perhaps). Wasn't it with the XC60 intro that soon after the additional collision avoidance was added to XC90 via an update? I think the OP is interpreting the "Last Update: 11/20/2018" in the lower right hand corner of the page as meaning feature/update for IntelliSafe but that's actually a reference to the webpage being last updated on 11/20/2018.

2nd or add more customization. Ie navigation map zoom in before turns (some of us have the 8inch panel). Also I wish they would make the 8 or 12 inch display screen and the ambient lighting dimmer to be on a separate switch or something. And allow Auto Highbeams to have memory like the rain sensing wipers.

Thanks, Gary.
I am totally confused by the plethora of acronyms. But my 2017 had something I would call Runoff mitigation with steer assist. I know because I felt it in action. Maybe I don't truly understand the difference or naming. Also, I do have CTA on my car. So again, I don't understand what's new. Or why I have those features. Perhaps they were installed by my dealer during some of the multi-month stays my car took at their facilities...
Frankly, it doesn't matter, my car is dead, so my point was.... just out of sheer curiosity.

Autonomous cars will be much better in protecting us. It is almost the time. As shown by Volvo/Luminar demo, LiDAR vision for the car is almost ready. Now it is just matter of time to build and test the production.
Before that, just drive carefully and cope with the silly car, and other stupid cars on road.

My 2016 XC90 is getting these updates while it’s at the dealer this week. I’ll let you know how it is.

It rubs me the wrong way that Volvo is making these "upgrades" be purchased.
I disagree. You knew what features your car had when you purchased it. You bought what you paid for. Subsequent model years usually cost more and have added features. It costs money to add features. Why should prior model years get new features for free? I think Volvo does the right thing by making new features available to prior model years, which in the past have been at what I consider a reasonable price.

Others might think I am wrong, citing iOS software updates for free, which add new features. Even taking that into consideration, I think Volvo charging a reasonable price is okay with me. I'd rather that than Volvo deciding not to make newer model features available for later model years.

Just my two cents worth.

Car company is not phone company is not PC company.

I don't mind they have their own cadence of software upgrade and charge for it, as long as it is reasonable.

For phone, some phones get latest Android, many old phones don't get it. And you pay for some apps on phone. Cars could be same way or get charged for some upgrades.
For PC, software is separated and we can even install different OS on it. I can only dream this on cars.

I agree that prior owners are fortunate to have Volvo or any manufacturer to enable new features within the limitations of the current hardware.

I am willing to pay and have paid a reasonable fee for such upgrades (PA2). Otherwise, I would get to a point where I would (need to) buy a new vehicle ... eventually, up to 10 years later.

Personally, I thank Volvo for making these functional upgrades available for a reasonable fee. I am also grateful for the ongoing updates (TSU or Service 2.0), roadmaps, et al.

Yeh it is just a little more than an oil change. Make me wonder if they could lower down P* tune cost to similar level. [emoji38] PA2 upgrade is almost a must for everyone and it is priced so favorably, that makes it look like planned originally but released just one year late, not a new or upgraded feature.
