It's a boy! He was delivered 11 AUG 2006 and weighed in at 3234lbs and 179.5" in length
Here are the specs:
S40 2.4i
Select Package (moonroof, premium sound, 6-CD with mp3 capability)
Heated Seats
Rain Sensor
Grocery Bag Holder
Auto dimming and compass in rear view mirror
Homelink
Front foglights
Leather gearshift knob
Laminated side windows
Volvo navigational system with DVD-maps and remote control
Automatic with geartronic
Leather upholstery
Titanium Grey Metallic Paint

I deff. like the side mirror lights. They look much nicer than the years before. The NAV system IS indeed on DVD even though we were told as a few others that it will be hard drive based. Has it always folded down on the dash? I thought it looks like it popped up out of the dash on Volvo's website. Oh, and has it always been mounted in the glove box? This is one complaint I do have because we can't fit the service books in there because it takes up so much room. The overhead console looks very cheap and doesn't look like it belongs in the car. Rubber floor mats are a must with beige carpet! Found out within the first 10 minutes and purchased their weather mats for 55 euro at the Volvo service center here. We ordered the grocery bag holder, but ended up with some really cheap looking "luggage holder" thing instead. We pointed this out so have ordered the correct part and we get to keep the other contraption. I think that's about it. I'll be taking pictures and posting them here today so feel free to send requests if there's anything you want to see up close.
I my Volvo
**updated** also added captions and a few extra pics
new side mirror lights

wood inlays

luggage holder in trunk

navigation screen in dash

center console w/ NAV remote

glovebox w/ mounted NAV

guages

front end w/ foglights

rubber mats

export plate

driver door

new over-head console & homelink in driver's visor

back of armrest

back seat cupholders/armrest

60/40 split and storage

rain sensor, auto-dimming mirror w/ compass

rear seat reading lights

my precious fur baby's fancy ride

laminated windows up close

Re: New Delivery 2007 S40 2.4i (CindyInItaly)

Congratulations...that S40 looks beautiful. A couple comments and questions:
1) what is photo #3? Is it the luggage holder you mentioned?
2) I thought the disc changer was in-dash? Or is that something else in the glove box?
3) I agree that the overhead console isn't as nice as the previous one.
All that being said - your new car looks great.

Speaking for Cindy, photo #3 is the grocery bag holder. What you see in the glove box is the DVD drive for the nav unit. And I kind of like the overhead console design, at least from that shot. Maybe it looks/feels cheaper in person?
Cindy, yes to your questions about the nav system and the DVD drive. The nav screen pops up on most other Volvo models, and Volvo tends to use the same (pop-up) photos of the screen no matter what car they are advertising it for. The drive has always been in the glove box. Makes it a tight fit in there, doesn't it?

Congrats! Very nice pictures. The overhead looks very different! Seems like there are more lights...do you know if it's brighter at night than the previous version?

Looks like everything else has been answered.

Quote, originally posted by Pez »

Congrats! I didn't pay attention to the 2006 and prior that close to detail. In the picture, I have the main light on and have turned on the reading lights too. Maybe that's why it looks "brighter" ??
Question about the NAV since it has always been in the glove box: has anyone been able to hook it up to a dvd player in the S40? Seems nearly impossible given the location and lack of space. How do I get it out to look at the back and see which adaptor(s) I would need?
Thanks for all the comments!
Cindy

Are our baby's pretty, or what?
Cindy, mind snapping another one of the aux input? I'm still curious where it's placed...

Re: (CindyInItaly)

I'm picking up my S40 in late Sept.
Like Cindy, I did not think the Nav folded out that way. Does not look at all like the photos in the brochure and seems kind of deceptive to me to represent it differently.
Also, I was told the dvd for the nav was under the seat, so that is a suprise too. and the strange looking add-on bin behind the console with the aux input looks like suprisingly poor design. Perhaps it looks better in person.
The overhead console looks to OK me, but in another post there was a comment about a plastic piece hiding the wires on the upper windshield. I hope that's not a design disapointment too.
I'm still looking forward to picking up my car in Sweden this fall.
Also, are Laminated Windows an option? I don't recall this (or really know what that means) but it's mentioned in Cindy's post.

Re: (Akash)

Congrats Cindy...have followed your posts and inquiries about Volvos & OSD and now you finally have it. I've got to agree about the tan interior and issues with carpeting....they REALLY show any dirt/grime. We too got the rubber floor mats but in hindsight, almost wish I would have gotten them in the contrasting black vrs matching tan/grey...as those too get dirty/look ugly very quickly...at least the rubber mats clean up much easier.
Enjoy your Volvo!

It's small and black, the same color as the windshield where is runs down to the mirror.
The laminated windows reduce outside noise and provide more resistance to break because it is a sandwich of glass, plastic and glass. The plastic holds the window together and keeps it from shattering even against a sledge hammer as demonstrated by Volvo.
**Pictures added above.
Cindy

Re: (CindyInItaly)

Thanks Cindy.
I didn't know laminated windows were an option, but they sound appealing. I pick up my S40 in Late Sept.
I got Nav too. How do you like it?
Did they lend you a dvd for Europe? I plan to drive to Copenhagen after I pick up my car.
