First off, a big thank you to everyone here and at VCNA who helped me with my clutch problems. I got in touch with Christopher Dauerer at VCNA and he and his associate William Casey took care of the problem in no time flat! They approved the replacement of my prematurely failed clutch, and it's going to be done tomorrow.
My question: is there anything I need to do with the new clutch, any kind of break in procedure to follow? I've never needed a new clutch in any of my vehicles before, so I'm not sure if there's any sort of bedding in like you do with brakes and such.
Thanks in advance

Re: New clutch questions (S60R1)

Wow, you weren't kidding! This thing shifts smooth as silk now. It does have quite a bit less resistance than the old clutch. I'm sure it's just that it's properly lubed now.
Now for the bad news: I'm currently sitting on the side of the highway waiting for the towtruck to tow me back to the dealer as someone forgot to tighten down the shift cable. Can't really do much with the stick flopping around like a wet noodle. But it shifted great for the 35 miles or so before it came loose!

You are not the first to be stranded by the side of the road due to improper dealer re-installation of the shift cables.
If they botched that you may want to pay attention to any additional cabin engine noise you have, since another often overlooked item is a firewall grommet that gets displaced during the clutch R&R.

Re: New clutch questions (rogersampson)

The clutch plate itself failed. It was slipping under load in any gear.
I'll keep an eye out for the grommet problem. I'll give them a call on monday and have them double check it while they are fixing the shift cable. It didn't sound like there was any extra cabin noise when I was driving it around, but then again, I only had it for 35 miles before the cable went...

once those attachment points get "worn" from assembly/disassembly they seem to never want to hold in.
AthruC came up with a solid solution, you may want to look into it http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=98705

Re: New clutch questions (FEO)

dang it, I had no idea the repair was that simple! I could have probably snapped them back on well enough to limp back home and fab up an AthruC bracket. Now my car's back at the dealer for the weekend, and who knows what other damage my car might incur while in their less-than-capable hands. Good times.
Thanks for the info though, I'll do the fix once I get it back this week.
