My stock brakes seem to be total garbage. Ive gotten them turned 3 times since ive had the car fall 2008 and they just keep warping. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/mad.gif" BORDER="0"> <p>So I went onto tirerack.com to see what they had for brake discs. And also decided to get some pads as well. I am wondering what your opions of the powerslot discs are with the Akebono pads. Also wondering if any one has tried these discs or pads.<p>Thanks in advance. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/embeer.gif" BORDER="0"> <p><A HREF="http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results.jsp?autoMake=Volvo&autoModel=S60&autoYear=2004&autoModClar=2.4" TARGET="_blank">http://www.tirerack.com/brakes...r=2.4</A>

The power slots are fine, but if they keep warping check how much torque you are using to put your wheels on with.

Re: New Brakes (campinassassin)

These discs should not be turned. The stock discs and pads are pretty good, maybe yours are not stock. I have never had any warping problems with Volvo stock brakes. They dust like crazy, is all.

Re: New Brakes (Mika)

I should have been more specific the front brakes are perfectly fine but the back ones pulsate a lot. Though it is nice to have the vibrating drivers seat option on your car its not all that good for the car and stopping distance. <p>Something that i have thought about is that it could be my 15 inch rims not allowing enough air flow to cool the disk and it just gets hotter and hotter.

That's exactly what i was wondering about rotors. My started to warp because i'm pretty sure when I got the car the rotors were already turned and not new. I'm looking at new rotors, currently have akebono pads that i got a few weeks ago. What would you guys recommend for front rotors, the oem replacement zimmerman or brembo, or something else.

Very happy with the setup which I would say is simular to oem without the dust.

Volvo doesn't recommend turning the rotors, and they also recommend replacing the rotors when replacing pads.<p>Also, if you are planning on buying Powerslots, check availability. I have my fronts, but have been waiting 6 weeks fro ipd to get the rears in. They claim that Powerslot was bought by another company, and the shipping has been a nightmare since. I see on the tirerack page you linked to, they also said "special order"<p>So if you had bad pulsations, you may not want to wait for weeks and weeks......

Would definitely recommend them.
