Hey,
Im usually over surfing on Audiworld as I drive a 2002 225 TT (showcar/summer use) and a 98 1.8T A4 (winter use). I just picked up an 04 S60R for my wife and have a few questions. First...had anyone installed an Optima redtop in their S60R?? I have one in my TT and one in the A4...LOVE them. Second...what do you guys think of the advanced Evolve exhaust? I searched the forums on both these topics...but would like some currect/up to date answers. Thanks for the help guys...if her car turns out anything like my two cars....it'll be hella tuned!! Quick pic of my TT...

And dont want to leave out the A4!

Welcome neighbor.
Sweet TT
No need for an after market battery unless you are gonna do some serious audio/video work (but I suspect that you have some plans).
Lots of Evolve feedback on SS but for some local support contact Kundert Volvo in Hasbrouck Heights, they are a authorized reseller and one of their techs is a regular here.

The R doesn't have a battery, it only has a positive connection terminal...

Thanks for the responce! I know the optima is not NEEDED...but the Volvo seems kinda slow to start...I figured if it needs replacing...why not upgrade. The optimas fire my cars up so damn fast...they are a pleasure to have in the winter...when a normal battery slows down. Anyway...thanks for the help!

Stock battery is doing more than fine.

Re: New around these parts....anyone install an Optima battery in theor S60R?? (Johann)

Im just curious what size to get. The S60 issnt listed on Optima's website. When I got them for my Audi's...they werent listed either (they are now) but the 34R style fit/worked perfect. If someone has done the swap...it would make it MUCH easier for me!!

Well I noticed one time while sitting in my car listening to music for about 20 minutes that I got a low battery message. Funny thing I went to the service manager and he said that's normal.
Will an Optima help with that?

Don't you need to worry about having the battery compartment vented in a volvo because it's in the passenger compartment? I thought the oem battery has vents built into it.

Optima's are sealed battery's....no venting. They can be mounted in any position...even inverted. I just need to find the right damn one!!!

Why can't you buy the Optima for the amount of cold cranking amps equal to or exceeding the stock volvo's? What's the prob?

ummm... yes the OEM battery is vented - and there is a rubber connector hose running from it's vent hole to the floor of the trunk for exhauting the gas to the outside of the car.

But as I previously stated...the OEM it being replaced with Optima...which is sealed. No need for vent-holes.

What size/model yellowtop? Did it fit into the battery holder without issue...or did you have to fabricate a bracket? Thanks!
