Flew to Denver yesterday from Dallas to pick up my newest baby...a 1997 Black 850R..gave my buddy the check and I was on my way...12 hours later I am home with a tired but happy smile...power, looks, comfort...I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship

Congrats! I'm loving my recently-purchased black 97 850 R. The only thing that's driving me nuts (and I can't afford to fix right now) is the "clack clack" from the driver's side seat rails. It really "cheapens" the driving experience, and unfortunately is not covered by the Pre-Owned Certified warranty. Grrrrr.

Congrats!! I'm sure you had a big smile plastered on your face on the ride back to TX. Just wondering what the mileage was and how much you paid for it? Also, how did you find it? I've been looking in my area and have had no luck. Thanks.

I soon hope to have one of those smiles plastered to my face too!!

Funny everyone mentions the seat rails...mine are making that noise too..hmm...my friend seems to think I may have to have the rails replaced..anyone ever look into it?...as for the car itself, I bought it off a good buddy of mine...he orginally bought in the Bay Area with about 22K miles back in 1998...It had about 45K when I picked it up in Denver...paid him 20K for hit...great deal...plus he had all the goodies already on it...IPD Front and Rear Sway Bars..Volvo Upper Strut Tie bar...Bilstein Shocks...Slotted Brembo Rotors in the front with Metal Masters...and hehe..the Wetterhauer chip...All I need to do is tint the windows and get some new rubber..probably go with 215/45/17's on the stock rims....a few observations from my drive back:

1) The driver seat "thunks"
2) The driver position leaves a bit to be desired...the arm rest is too low and the arm rest on the door is a bit too high...even after playing with the seating position...
3) It hauls major booty..and no one gives it a second look...a major Q Ship!

And oh yes...the head unit and/or the speakers need to be upgraded..the stock system is awsome for bass but the tweeters are severly lacking...I am not a major audio fan but it is very noticeable to me..anyone have any thoughts?

tx850r,
I would first upgrade the head unit. I was amazed at the difference in the highs from the stock speakers when I got my alpine head unit. I was going to get new Infiniti Kappas all arround, but decided that I don't need them. Do you have any prefrences on head unit? or price? If you are planning to do install the head unit your self, check out http://www.mmxpress.com/ has the best prices I have found. Other wise, I would recomend Circuit City or something because they can insure everything they do.

Best of luck!
Austin
