Hi.
I've been reading all over this web site for weeks. What other sites do you guys use?
I'm sure I'll be doing some performance and appearance mods. Where do I start? The chip and exhaust kit @ipd was tempting but if I remember right it was over $1.5k. What about suspension? What are the standard or popular upgrades?
The car rides on 205/50 ZR16 seems like a week link to me.

Lastly I think I did well on the car. Opinions? Silver w/aluminum over black interior. 81k miles w/books and A1 maintenace. 1998 V70R AWD I can't believe what a great value at $16.7k. What is going to want replacing soon? Oil tips?
Thanks all
Trubey
There are many companies out there that offer packages as far as chip and exhaust (cat-back) are concerned. From my own research into this subject, I would be mindful of the total cost but I would not let that factor alone decide which way I go. You do get what you pay for, after all. iPd offers a very nice package with tremendous results without physically altering your ECU.
If you want to invest more money, then you can invest in a down tube for your exhaust, along with a high flow race catalytic converter, high flow air filter, etc. IT just depends how much $$$ and effort you would like to invest. Take a look at Kai's C70, for example, in the beginning page of this website and you will see that his upgrades are impressive but I am sure his bill is equally impressive. But in the end, I am sure that he has a car that is truly unique!
Tires? Weak? Well, you can upgrade to 17" wheels but I would like to let you know that the "older" generation V70s do ride, inherently, firmer than the current V70s, so keep that in mind. You can try by installing thicker antiroll/sway bars and you will notice a huge difference in the handling of the car. Again, it all depends what is the purpose of your upgrades. Are you doing all this in order to race the car? Or to enhance you daily driving experience?
Oil? I am a firm believer of using a good synthetic oil. Weight? 5W-30 or 10W-30 is the recommended weight unless you live in Alaska (which you don't). If you upgrade your ECU, post again as you should probably move to a heavier oil.
You did pretty good in price, assuing that the body is in great shape. At 90,000 miles, you are up for a tune-up (again at 120,000 miles) and at 140,000 miles you must change the timing belt (I assume it was changed at 70,000 miles, if not...you are living on BORROWED time). Change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles/6 months and rotate your tires every 5,000 miles.
I cannot tell you what is going to be replaced soon as I do not know what HAS been replaced, so far.
Congratulations and best of luck!
Yannis

Another good place to get better priced stuff is http://engstrom.net/ They are an importer for BSR. A little more agressive tuner which will give you more power gains, but nothing beats the quality of iPd. Also try volvotuning.com
