I'm familiar, though Audi has worked around this, so perhaps Volvo worked a solution in as well. In any event, even if it ends up being a solid on/off LED turnsignal...IN AMBER...then that's an improvement in my book.

The gears are already spinning on what's going to be required to retrofit these lights (and the revised spoiler) onto our 2019.

-lenses
-harnesses (both d-pillars, and hatch)
-software refresh
You think, I'm confident that the same connectors will be used and the additional sequential work done at the light?? I could be wrong. I just took delivery of a 2020 S90 Inscription Plus T5, we don't get a T6 here, in fact the 2021 only come in T8 format now.

Has anyone ever tried replacing the current incandescent rear turn signals with LED bulbs, or the reverse lights??

To add to the news, the turn signals will now be LED (as they should have been from the start!), and.... sequential!

Check out the video of them in action here on the S90.

Interesting. I wonder if we get the nice amber ones here in the US, or if they dumb them down and make them red again.

Also would be curious of they are compatible with pre-2021 cars. I could totally see these on my 2017.

You make me sad. :(

These are pretty, but they probably rob you of performance and milage compared to a narrower single pipe.

A four cylinder just doesn't need that much exhaust capacity, so instead of creating a laminar flow out, wise pipes like hsi result in turbulence and more back oressure, not less.

Sure do look pretty though.

Just to be clear, for the stock Volvo setup - the pipes leading from the muffler doesn't physically connect to the trapezoid tips, there's a gap in between.

For these Heico tips, it's the same thing (gap in between), except it's not a single pipe on each side, but a Y-connector on each side. ;)

My friend is preparing to cycle out of the lease on his Explorer Sport and took a 6 passenger 2020 XC90 for a test drive yesterday.
Note: He has 3 kids all under 10.
He told me he couldn't believe on a premium luxury import there was absolutely zero USB ports for rear passengers. It is now out of consideration.
While I agree USB ports are absolutely essential -- a 2 port 6 amp USB car charger cost me $20 and I assume it will need to be upgraded again within the 10 year lifecycle of my car.

Interesting. USB ports wouldn't even have been something I noticed, or was looking for, but to each their own.

I just kind of expect cars to ahve those round cigarette lighter outlets I can plug whatever I need into them. That way it is universal. If I need a phone charged, I'll plug a phone charger into it, if I need something else, I'll plug something else in. That - IMHO - is better than being stuck with one thing, which may or may not stay relevant over the life of the car. I mean, standard USB ports are already being phased out in favor of USB-C.

I was wondering the same thing too.
I found part numbers (two pieces per side), but not sure what variants we have (1 or 2/3 I guess depends on EU or US)

My main question is if it's plug and play. Since we don't have V90 in Canada I can't just find someone to swap for a trial.

I also found a parts myself ( 4 pieces for an s90) and im 100% sure it is not a simply plug and play. They got the same connectors but completely different function. Probably need a new harness or something else.

Why are you so sure?

Why the sequence is not simply using the signal current from the car and the tail does the magic?
Is the harness going to it the same?

I did have the local volvo dealer checked for me. It did not work with the current harness.

A harness is quite a big change although there are various harness sections so it also depends if the module it connects to is different.
the processing can still be the tail, someone would have to check the current to see if the car sends the same signals on both versions.

Without having a physical car it's a wild guess to do the swap not like going from US to Euro models

So my initial research shows the same harness for both (V90CC)

For the lamps, Taking just one of the 4 pieces I get (for JA01 American market)
CH -131824 31655870
CH 131825- 32337134

P.s. the split at the 160724 for the V90 non CC

When I searched random VIN for 2020 and 2021 all were each side of that threshold. So that makes me think these are the part numbers, a dealer could confirm just by calling and providing a 2021 VIN.

Then for harness that connects to it, if I take the left side (the one that connects to the 3rd brake light) I have 3 results, one without CH split and then two splits that are not related to 2021 MY, not sure where the -77667 split is.
31427428
CH -77667 31682802
CH 77668- 32265026

One thing for sure is that the harness CH split is not the same as the lamps so my conclusion is that no harness swap is required.

That still doesn't mean the module that feeds the harness is not different, I am not yet there in my research as the OEM price for lights is outrageous so without a crashed donor car I won't do a swap.

Glad to see someone actually did some research on it. Im not the expert here so hopefully you can figure it out soon

Another thing is that us version has no sequential flashers and they are reddish?... So def. I would want the euro version!

It does have the fancy startup sequence.

This video shows everything startuo, brake, flash, no parking lights, etc.

I now need to decide if I bite the bullet and place a $850 bet.
My other option is to buy only one of the 4 pieces ($142) and test it. If it works, buy the 3 others when they are discounted (currently a pretty good discount for 4th of July).

If you decide to go for it please update us asap! lol
I have ordered one of the tailgate lights. Not sure how long it will take to get as it's euro part.

I'm only back at my car end of August or early September so I won't have results before then.
