I really like the tail lights.. I really don't like the new front "bumper".. and I would prefer if they would keep the exhausts..
And now I'm even happier that I bought my V90 before this change :D
the tail lights.. well I might buy them to put on mine.. if possible :)

I don't particularly like the new bumper. It seems odd to me that the exhaust is basically missing. Is this a design cue that comes from electric vehicles, where exhaust is no longer "cool"?

Regardless, I'm glad I got one before the exhaust disappeared.

My guess is that it has to do with the one being a T8 and the other being a B6. So you're probably right that it's about the partial electrification and they don't want to emphasize the ICE. I wonder if they will carry that design theme through to the T4, T5, and T6 variants, assuming those continue in certain markets.

Lot's of additional new videos of the V90, V90cc, and S90 refresh can be found here.

https://www.media.volvocars.com/global/en-gb/media/videos/list

Check out the "power-up" sequence for the taillights of the V90 and V90cc.

Unfortunately, I don't think this would be a direct swap for those with 2017-2020 V90-V90cc cars, as it would require replacement of the wiring on the hatch, at the very least.

Someone was paying attention - sort of - to the USB complaints. Dual USB-C outlets for the passengers. No big deal for me but a lot of people have complained about not having USB for the passengers.

My friend is preparing to cycle out of the lease on his Explorer Sport and took a 6 passenger 2020 XC90 for a test drive yesterday.
Note: He has 3 kids all under 10.
He told me he couldn't believe on a premium luxury import there was absolutely zero USB ports for rear passengers. It is now out of consideration.

To add to the news, the turn signals will now be LED (as they should have been from the start!), and.... sequential!

Check out the video of them in action here on the S90.

Don't get too excited just yet. Due to thinness of the turn signals, depending on the lighting implementation, the sequential firing order may be removed for US market due to Fed Regs for our turn signals. It's pretty stupid - but who says laws need to a) make sense and b) catch up with modern advancements in technology.

You can read more here - scroll about half way down or search "Owens" on the page and you see an explanation as to why

I'm familiar, though Audi has worked around this, so perhaps Volvo worked a solution in as well. In any event, even if it ends up being a solid on/off LED turnsignal...IN AMBER...then that's an improvement in my book.

The gears are already spinning on what's going to be required to retrofit these lights (and the revised spoiler) onto our 2019.

-lenses
-harnesses (both d-pillars, and hatch)
-software refresh

It's nice that they did this, but what about those who need a 12v outlet instead? Previously, the solution for those, like me, who wanted two USB ports cost $9 from Amazon:

I agree. I use something similar when I need USB ports in a car. Enough people appear to have whined about it, though, that they decided to prioritize the USB ports over the 12V outlet (which, to be fair, isn't used nearly as often as it used to be.)

I am sure there will be somewhere 12V in the car since a lot of car things still run on it . Possibly in a trunk or something. But USB C has lots of power to charge laptops phone etc.Better than USB2.0

In that case, the price has gone from $9 to $13.

Frankly, this seems to me like an "improvement" comparable to eliminating both the CD player and the AUX input from the $$$$ B&W audio upgrade.
