Hi all,

For the last few months I have been in the market for a new daily driver, something good on gas, fun to drive, that you'd still be proud to park and step out of. Initially Volvo wasn't at the top of my list but saw a listing for a 2007 S40 5 Speed with 128k miles not far from me listed at 2300. Decided to go take a look, first impression off the bat was the car looked solid for the price. I grew up wrenching and did some quick googling on what to look for with these cars. Took her for a test drive and looked for all the normal things, made sure to get her nice and hot. Couldn't find a damn thing really wrong with it mechanically, besides a slight vibration at higher mph. The owner provided receipts showing the timing belt, intake manifold/gasket, basically all the belts and pulleys had been replaced and a full coolant flush, the receipt was for about 4600 worth of maintenance work. I decided to think about it, texted him the next day, offered him 1800, he accepted, immediatley went and picked the car up. So the only issue the car seems to have is a vibration around 65-70mph it can be felt in the seat and cabin area, slightly in the wheel but no so bad, previous owner mentioned it probably needed an engine mount, but i'm thinking wheel balance? Anyways couldn't be happier with the car thus far. Pics below.

Also the previous owner I think tried to debade the rear trunk lid? I think he actually sanded where the emblems were, is there anything I can do to try and polish or buff it you think?

I also have vibration at same speed and a little bit when accelerating. Bad cv axles can also cause vibrarion.

would require some 10,000 grit paper/paste, and then some 20,000 grit paper/paste, but possible to fix as long as enough material is left over. Otherwise I'd pull the trunk or pull a spare from a yard and have them paint it off the car...

If the previous owner mentioned something about and engine mount. I would go check and replace. The mounts are known to tear. Check out FCPEuro.com if you're interested in lifetime warrenty parts.
