I bought my s40 a year and a half ago. Ever since new I noticed a smell like wax/crayons. At first I completely thought it was just a new car smell and would fade over time. But it has never went away, it actually is getting worse and is starting to annoy me.
Enough is enough I want the smell to fade away but it is not. Anyone else have this smell in their s40? Anything I can do to get it to go away?

I love that smell! Unlike any other car smell in the world! Mine is gone after 40k, but I roll with windows down a lot. I'll take yours if youre not using it.

Finish on cat/exhaust burning in? I haven't noticed any smells yet on mine (400 miles so far).

Re: (thisdothack)

It's not necessarily a bad smell. I just want it to go away and not smell like crayolas anymore. From what I researched some euro companies use wax to seal the interior and that may be what it is.
Oh well I will ask the dealer about it at the next service.

Re: Never ending crayon / wax smell since new (max power)

I also noticed it was stronger in the trunk. I will check it out soon, if it is excess sealer or wax maybe I can clean it off
