I lost all compression in cylinder #4. Likely a cracked sleeve. Need a new motor.
the shop said they have a line on an 04 S60R with 50K on it, but the engine #'s don't match. here's a copy of what they said:

"The latest S60 R engine we spoke about is a 2004 S60R with 50K miles. It is
a B5254T3 and your customers car most likely has a B5254T4. Turner Volvo
couldn't tell me the difference so there probably isn't any. However I can't
100% confirm nor deny it. Here is the VIN from my car to help investigate:
YV1RH52Y442372008. Let me know what you figure out."

can anybody tell me if a T3 motor will work in place of my T4? I know the problem is going to be the model year and not that it's an S60R motor.

Hoping to get an answer pretty quick as i want to keep this moving - but i don't want the wrong motor!

Thanks everybody!

A volvo dealer couldnt tell you the difference between the two engines?
I think Turner Volvo couldn't tell if there was a difference between the 04 and 05 motor. Meaning, they knew of no difference between the years.

this motor is out of an 04 S60R - it's an R motor. so it's going to work for my '05. they're only swapping the long block so i should be fine.

Thanks Silverbullit850, your post helped figure out what went wrong with the engine #'s.
