I was wondering if there is anyone that lives in the southwest region of Chicago that can maybe help me figure out and finally solve some of the problems im having with my 2001 V70 T5. Or maybe it can be solved on this site which would be great. One of the problems is im pretty sure is the ETM, which ive called volvo dealership in Lisle, IL and are not to helpful in trying to fix it. The other problems are smaller like sunroof rattle, CD change not working, vibrating noise in exhaust, etc. So, if there is anyone in my area or if you know of someone that could please help that would be great because id really like to keep this car.
Thx - Adam

Sunroof rattle is probably loose screws. If you can press the sunroof up then the screws are loose.
Exaust rattle is probably a heat sheild, probably over the Cat or the muffler
You need to look and see where it is loose, then look at a spot that is tight and figure out how it is fasten properly then dupilicate

BUT, as time goes on the "ride pins" and/or slots that they ride in (for lack of a better name) wear and get a tiny bit of play in them...and they rattle/squeak enough to drive you nuts. These "pins" ride in a radiused slot that raises/lowers the moonroof and holds it down tight when closed. Easiest fix: turn up the stereo, ha, but obviously not always practical. I'm working on a fix for mine that doesn't involve buying the new parts ($$$). It'll probably be small plastic wear sleeves to fit around the pins and take the play out. When they wear out, slip a new pair on and good to go for another while. When I get it figured I'll create a how-to post. BTW, you can push the sunroof up at the rear a bit when these pins are worn, if it still rattles after you've tightened the screws it's gotta be the pins.
In the next couple of weeks the wagon is going to the dealer for a last going-over before the CPO warranty expires to get anything that would be covered taken care of (amazing that it went from 44,000 to almost 100,000 miles in 17 months). Fair chance that the sunroof will be fixed under warranty, if so I won't be doing the fix mentioned above...we'll see.

Re: Need some help! (JRL)

ya, when i had an 850 my check engine light came on and i happen to be in the area. so i went in and they wouldnt do a thing!!! they actually sent me to a oil change place around the corner lol. but ya as far as the heat shield, it was completely loose. so i just took it off. idk if that was a bad idea or not but whatever i want to get rid of this car by the end of the summer anyway. im going back to the 850's.
