Re: need help with a light bulb (V70)

Anyone? I know it can't be that hard. I just don't want to pay the dealer 100.00 to change a light bulb.

I haven't taken a look to see how the console comes apart, but I would venture a guess that you may need to remove the wood trim, which may require removing a couple screws from the arm rest area, pop up the wood trim and then access the P/R/N/D plate....I don't know if you can access this plate without removing the center wood trim. I don't think there is an access panel on the side of the exhaust tunnel that would get you in under the center console. Maybe the Shift boot is snapped into place and it will pop up giving you access under the P/R/N/D plate and possibly the bulb.
Actually, if you hit the parts department, when they call up the bulb, their diagram may be an exploded view of the center console and all the screws and pieces required and you will get a good idea of how it comes apart.
Good luck, if I drive to lunch today I'll take a look on my V70 and see if I can tell what the deal is.
If the dealer is charging $100 - it is probably 1hr labor + parts. So, it may not be that difficult of a job...but they may have a special tool that does something much easier/quicker than a couple of flat head screw drivers prying the console open.

If the parts department folks are nice, ask them if they can print out a copy of the center console for you. That is what they did for me when I needed to replace a suspension part. Taking apart the center console shouldn't be too difficult once you have that info.
-Drew
