I have narrowed it down to Sonic Blue and Passion Red for my S60 R, both with 18'' titanium pegs and blue interior. I am looking for suggestions and hopefully pictures of some cars configured this way. This would be very helpful, thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

i think the silver wheels look better than titanium. if I got sonic blue, any color interior woudl look cool. I think gobi or atacama would look sweet with sonic blue. of course I'm partial to the silver and ti gray R's with gobi. i know nordkap is more popular. but I love light colored leather...

If you're looking to have a rare car you've probaly got the two best choices with Red being the most rare IMHO.

In Toronto I've never seen a red one, for that matter the only Sonic blue I've seen is the one I test drove last summer, which I believe was sold to a guy in Ajax or Pickering, Ontario. It was an '05 Sonic Blue MT with Nordkap (blue) leather and silver 18" pegs. zigger has a sonic blue and I think our local dealer told him there were only 2 or 3 brought into this area, I bet it's 0 for red.

I really like the combo of Sonic Blue with Nordkap leather, it looks really nice. It's a good 2nd choice to Sapphire Black and Atacama IMBO (IMBO = In My very Biased Opinion)

As for the wheels, it sounds like you've decided on graphite (you said tatnium?) Personally I prefer silver pegs. If you plan to get a winter wheel setup you can always get the other colour pegs at that time and have one set of each (that's likely what I'll do if I end up feeling the need to swith to graphite pegs).

Re: (23109VC)

This is what a lot of us did. They will not sell you a car without wheels and tires. Take what they give you for no extra cost.

You live in MA and will likely need dedicated snows. Order it with the 17's and save ~$1000. The stock pirellis p zeros are crap in the snow, so run them for your first summer as they will wear fast and will likely be toast soon. When your first winter hits buy dedicated 17" winter snows.

When next summer hits, buy dedicated 18" pegasus or other brand or size for summer using the ~$1000+ you saved above. You only sacrifice having 17" instead of 18" the first summer and end up with two sets of wheels and tires.

flybynight, that's a really nice shot of your car, it makes the sonic blue look awesome! Nice touch getting the front wheels at that angle, it's just right.

My $0.02 is the graphite pegs look a bit better on sonic blue.
I have jumping back and forth, back and forth on whether get the car I ordered sb with graph pegs or get a fully optioned titanium gray fully loaded R for the same price.
There is no doubt the sonic blue just has something extra about it.
With the brights, I thought the car was a bit too flashy. With graphites, the car darkens a bit in personality.
More people will like the brights imo. Graphites will make the car even more 'unique'.

BTW, Quick Brick AMAZING pictures.

Thanks for the replies. I really enjoy the way the graphite pegs look in pictures, my only problem is that I have not seen them in person at all, let alone on the red or blue. I think they look great in the pics above though.

Anybody have a pic of the red?

Also I have not seen the red car in person, as people said it is very rare. I am a little concerned about the fact that it is not a metallic paint, does it shine like the blue?

In the area of wheels, If i were to purchase the car with 17''s, would it really be feasible to get a set of 18 graphite pegs for under 1k? Definetly not with tires?

You should be able to buy a set of 18's for around $1K or slightly less....without tires.

Re: (jonecasey)

Have you checked out JRL's car? He has red with graphite pegs. Much better looking than with the brights. But that is of course my opinion.

I feel the graphites look better in person! As does the sonic blue. AS DOES THE R!

Although, Quick brick and I will be the only ones with sonic and graphites. Don't know if we need more competition.

Also, I do not find the red to be THAT rare. Kundert Volvo on the Terrace has 9 R's in stock in which 3 or 4 are red! Plus, my dealership has a red with Gobi and sport package. Gobi looks great with red. Sonic blue does too I feel...but not as good as with Nordcap.

It's really hard to display through pictures. But, what I feel the difference is is that the bright's give the sonic blue R a bit more of a sporty/flash factor. The graphites are a bit more aggressive/attention grabbing/business-like in appearance.

My bet, and my gamble, was to get the graphites. They would probably be easier for you to find someone who would be willing to trade their brights for your graphs than vice-versa. The graphs are more limited. Most dealerships will not even stock them without special order, I have found.

Re: (MagoonR)

Passion Red is a shiny color, but I think you should see it in person if you have any concerns. I seriously considered it before placing my order (and my current driver at the time was an Amulet Red TTQR), but when I finally saw the color in person I thought it had a little too much orange in it for my taste.

I believe Passion Red is also available on the S40 so you should ask your dealer if they have ANY cars on the lot in that color just so you can see it.

Thanks for pointing me to the car for sale. I sent him a message. I am not sure I am sold on the body kit though, definetly going to consider it. I agree with the graphites, I think I will go with them on either red or sonic, still can't decide though.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Red may not be THAT rare but the red/nordkap combo is not as common as red/gobi.

Yeah, but who would want that combo?

Ummmmm........there are a few of us and actually, I think it looks much better that the red/gobi; especially since the dash and seats don't contrast.

It also works well with the black moldings of the 2004's.

Thanks, I appreciate that. BTW, Sonic Blue wasn't available for '05. Sonic Blue is sorta the color that replaced Flash Green as the extroverted R color.
