I've contacted several dealers to inquire about price, availability and installation for the Volvo DVD navigation system (not the CD NAV or the DVD movie player).
Unfortunately, most of the service advisors don't know anything about it and when they check for parts they come back with CD NAV system parts. Additionally, the technicians have never put one of these in and I'm under the impression that it requires some special training.
I understand that the parts are available for this - I have a list from Yannis.
Please respond if any of you are - or know of - a Service person in the SouthWest U.S. who knows about this system. I'm in the L.A. area.

It is the same procedure as the CD-ROM based system only that the player is different. Same wiring, etc. Whoever has been trained to install the previous system can most certainly install this one.
I cannot believe that you are, still, having a hard time in finding someone to install that in your car...amazing!
The price for a dealer installed Nav system is going to run anywhere from $3,100 to $3,500 (incl. parts and labor).
Yannis

Yannis/all interested -
The DVD Nav parts are on order. Westlake Volvo is doing the install. Don in the Parts department has been the most courteous person of all the dealerships I've dealt with over the last 4 or 5 years. Plus his price was the best. He didn't know the system was available but did the research to verify that it was available. Barring any unforseen issues, the system should be installed next week.
