Navigation Technologies, a leading provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation, Internet/wireless applications and business solutions today announced digital map coverage in Taiwan. Navigation Technologies' detailed coverage of Taiwan covers more than 4,500 miles of digitally mapped roads, including Taiwan's capital city, Taipei, as well as T'aoyuan and Chungli.
Taiwan is the first of several Asia-Pacific markets for which Navigation Technologies plans to provide digital map coverage. Navigation Technologies utilized its proprietary collection process to field-verify 100% of the coverage network, including Taipei's complex multi-layered freeway system.
Coverage of Taiwan enables in-car navigation systems, Internet and wireless solutions and business applications such as fleet management, to provide detailed directions and to identify destinations or points of interest such as restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, gas stations and banks. In addition, coverage includes detailed attributes such as road sign text categories that help optimize routes.
"Taiwan is Navigation Technologies' first foray into the Asia-Pacific region, an area that has been identified as a priority by our customers," said John MacLeod, Executive Vice President, North American and World Markets at Navigation Technologies. "Now covering 30 countries on four continents, we're dedicated to meeting the needs of our customers, by providing the most detailed digital map coverage around the globe."
About Navigation Technologies
Navigation Technologies creates digital maps that power navigation and location-based services around the world. I'm not sure Taiwan, but in Japan, NAV systems come in the cheapest car in Japan. When I was there a few years ago, the lamest car with no options had a navigation on it. I couldn't believe it. No A/C, no power anything, and yet it had a navigation screen....
Taiwan is so congested--especially in Taipei. Cars hardly move there. Plenty of time to look at the navigation screen.
to Kai, I would say American born Taiwanese rule!
