I read that the S40 2.4i engine is "naturally aspirated." What exactly does that mean? Also, I have a 2.4i and when I rev up to around 4krpm, I think I hear a slight "swoosh" kind of like a turbo. Is that the "naturally aspirated" part kicking in?

Re: Naturally Aspirated Engine (smartytai)

the 2.4 still have variable valve timing, so maybe thats them kicking in at that rpm and thats the sound u hear.

Re: (V50_T5)

Yup, pretty much means the engine breathes on its own without forced induction from a turbo/supercharger.
Like dey said!
