Man, I've heard more rumors about Jaguar lately than I have seen tasteless news pieces on Jon Benet Ramsey and that creepy dude who claims to have killed her.
The latest rumor about Jag is that an investment group led by PAG creator and ex-FoMoCo boss Jacques Nasser. Interesting concept. However, those same rumors don't include Volvo. FYI, the Premier Automotive Group may become a little more lonely comprised of Volvo and Aston Martin.
More here..
http://jalopnik.com/cars/news/...3.php

Re: Nasser to Return and Buy Land Rover / Jag ([email protected])

As it was Nasser who was foolish enough to buy Jaguar and LandRover for Ford, I would love to see him remove them from Ford. Both are world class nightmares to service and support. I am sure Ford would love to have back the millions tossed down this bottomless pit.
My IM was telling me about a mid '90s Land Rover in his shop, which needs a new distributor. The distributor is no longer being made!
Then there was the time that he showed me a V-12 Jag. To remove the #1 sparkplug, you have to pull the AC! A freon recharge is required after every tune up!
Then there was the time when he anwered the phone as I stood there. "Yeah, we work on Jaguars. Bring lots of money". Turns out the guy bought a mid '90s Jag at an auction for about $12K. Figgered it had to be a great deal cuz new the thing was over $50K. Imagine his surprise when he was told as much to put the car right as he had just paid for it. The guy got kinda pale when he heard that.
Just horrible stuff to own and maintain.

But I do not agree with your thinking on the 5.4L V12's where you need to remove the A/C. I do not have the facts in front of me nor the GUY whom did it. But I saw it done twice on a XJS. The Comp had to be moved but not taken out of the system, nor loose R12. Being careful was a watch word thou. This is the same guy that knows how to take out the Blower motors in 35 mins on 2 seris Volvo's when others charge and take book time of five to six hours. I as well KNOW as I saw it done many times on them that Jag does not hold the patent on stupid tuneup designs. The mid 70's BIG BOAT Pontiac GRAND SAFARI with the 455 in it my neighbor had as well had that problem. One would also assume the BONNEVILLE. The Comp had to be moved carefully to remove the #1 plug. JUST like in the Jags. So Henny Penny the Sky is Falling, would also apply to GM. And I am sure if you dig further, 454's and 455's in Chevy's/Buick's/Old's suffer the same fate. As well as the 500 in Caddy's

I wonder if the sale of Jag/LR will be enough to get Ford back on track......
