Fire Extinguisher Mount

Using some of the ideas Bootsie and I shared, I finished a fire extinguisher mount which securely holds the tank in place. It remains out of the way of your feet, moves with the seat, and allows full 8-way positioning of the seat without interference.

All the way back:

All the way forward:

I also remade my e-brake boot with a shinier black leather, also gave another swing at a GT shift boot. It doesn't interfere with geartronic shifting at all, of course it does make it look like a stick ;) I may keep it on for a little while.

The shifter looks like a beemer shifter.

Let me see if I can find a pic of what I'm thinking about.

This thing!

Nice work on the extinguisher mount! That's exactly the way I planned on mounting mine. Of course, my extinguishers are mounted loosely in the passenger floorboard (aka rolling around lol), in all three cars. Hey, at least I got em.

I like the shifter boot, but minus ten points for looking like a bimmer. Lol jk

PS: I agree. Black paint. Otherwise, perfect!

nice work on the fire extinguisher! have you thought about painting the bracket (matte) black?
I thought about it and I planned to. After the trouble of removing part of the seat and fighting with bolts and alignment just to test fit it, I'm not going through that again.
For the most part, you can't even see the bracket, so I'm not too worried about making it black (for now ;)).

Hell, i luv your car!
All those mods that make the car complete. Really great.

I think the new shift boot looks way better than the original GearTronic shift boot, even it looks like a beemer. ;)
It makes the interior look way sportier.

Roof Spoiler

Roof Spoiler

It's made from PUF, so it's fairly flexible, not sure how well it would hold paint. However, the style is spot on for what I wanted. The end cuts are pretty clean and the adhesive appears to be holding it in place quite well.

For $26 shipped, it's a hard deal to pass up. I submitted the dimensions for a roof spoiler for our cars (45.5" which is about 2mm wider than the rear windscreen), so this would not be the right length for a trunk spoiler. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161186153250?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Nice, Michael! Considering this is the same as the eBay m3 spoilers, paint should hold to it just fine. I like the look!

HMMMMM How do I really feel about this.....I like it but do I really need it....

So you got the trunk lid spoiler and it fit in the window? or you have to do anything special?

True... Either way, I won't be painting mine. I have something else planned :D

The link I shared isn't for a trunk lid spoiler, it's a for a roof spoiler. I contacted the company and sent them the dimensions of our roofs, so if you order through that link it'll be a length that fits the top of the back window. You'll have to e-mail them directly to get a spoiler that fits the trunk lid.

As I said, it's a cheaper material, but for $26 I'm quite pleased.

Sorry I am confused because of the description. I don't need the trunk spoiler... But if I order directly from that link whatever I get will fit the window?

Yeah, ignore their generic description. That link is for exactly what I ordered.

Like many, my Elevate bushing started to separate. I took some pictures and e-mailed them to Don @ Elevate and he graciously sent me the metal plates and new center piece which come with the new bushings. After installing the upgraded mount, shifting is even smoother than it was before. Everything is a lot more solid; steering wheel vibration and slight cabin noise (at idle) are about the same as they were when the mount was new.

I'm more than pleased with this little upgrade. Before, the torque mount had the ability to move vertically which is why the bushing would start to separate. Now it can only move horizontally. Time will tell how well it holds up, but this seems like a solid fix. I still highly recommend upgrading the torque mounts in our cars, one of the best mods that can be done for so cheap.

Michael, I have my mount fix from Don down stairs ready to be installed. Did u notice the center bushing is not the full thickness of the mount now? There is about a .5 inch difference between the old design and the "fix" on mine.

I did notice that, the black mount bushing appears to be the same thickness, so it was my assumption that the shorter inner bushing is to accommodate the two metal plates. When I tried putting in the longer inner bushing, it touched both metal plates which may have made the mount too thick to slide in place, it also might make the vibrations more violent.

I saved the original parts, but I used all the new pieces he sent me.

Nice job on the shift boot! ...does it feel different when you move it around?
