Update, the clunk was my end link. Tightened down and good to go!
The sliding noise was my dust shield, that just needed to be bent.

Now on to two more problems... The shop didn't replace all the washers with my skid plate so now it rattles a bit. That's an easy fix.

But I'm also hearing a light click noise. It seems pretty random, but it seems to occur when shifting in or out of 2nd when moving at a pretty decent pace. Or when I first touch the gas when going in reverse. It also seems to only occur when going up or down hill, or when turning. Possibly a transmission thing? It's time for an oil change so I'll fix the skid plate, double check the tranny mount, and I want to check the end link on the driver side.

My best bet is that after driving with one bad end link for so long loosened my other end link enough to click.




I will still stand by the fact that my car has been mechanically flawless. The issues I've faced have only been results of my own doing. The axles went because I lowered the car (2004 axles), the end link was because of my forgetfulness when replacing the strut bearings. The bad strut bearing was from accidentally popping the top off of the bearings when I first pulled the struts out.

This weekend I'm planning on going through and checking the torque on everything. Hopefully we will be smooth sailing after that!

When you bought you exhaust cutout, was the pipe diameter 2.5 in or 2.25? Isn't the stock diameter 2.25 in? I wanna get the pipe ordered but I just want to check on the fitment and such.

I believe our stock diameter is 2.25" however, I did buy the 2.5. When I had my resonator removed, they replaced it with a pipe that went over the stock pipe, so I had about a 2.4" diameter where I wanted to put my cutout. Tightened down and a little bit of welding, it's held find.

Which pic? The last one I posted in the "What Does Your Car Look Like Right Now?!?!" thread? I'm not sure what the exact dimensions are, but I can send you the original.

Did you go OEM, Empi, or someone else for your axles?
I got new OEM axles. $554 for parts, labors, and tax. Pretty good comparing the cost of OEM axles from Tasca!

Wow, that's a pretty kick ass price...how did you get the some cheap?

I'm guessing labor alone should be ~$200.
Local Volvo indie shop. I called them at 9:30 asking for a price, they said they couldn't do it until the next day. They then called me back and said they could pick up the parts by noon and have the job completed by 4pm. I dropped the car off at 10:00 and it was ready by 1:30 :D

I saw the boxes and watched the install, so I can verify that they are OEM axles.

Ok great! I think I will just have a shop cutout a section and replace it with the new cutout pipe. I'm gonna go with the 2.25 and try it out. Worst case scenario is I have to get a bigger one (probably wont happen, but we all know how stubborn our volvos are lol).

Did you have to use a remote amp controller for your woofer set-up?
There's a remote wire so that it turns on with the car, but I do not have a separate controller.

I posted my tune badge, but I never shared the quick concepts I came up with. Here were the final 4 designs, after photoshopping each onto my car, the black on blue was obviously the best choice with my color theme.

Radar Detector Mount

Radar detector mount is done.

First thing was taking off the plastic cover:



Then mounting the bracket:



Test fitting:



With some extensive modifying (and a thin, hidden, strip of duct tape) I was able to fit the plastic cover back up:



Unnoticeable from the outside:



Easily accessible from the inside:

Installed my new endlinks and what a difference they made!

Next on the list are stainless steel brake lines. Anything I should know before I install those?
