Good to know, thanks!
Finally replaced the front struts with Meyle struts, sold in a kit by the Volu parts warehouse. Huge difference already, next step is the upper engine mount.

Plastidipped all the letters, went with the newer style V O L V O spacing and re-positioned the "850" and "GLT."

Put the original "VOLVO" badge on the glove box.

Wrapped all the dash trim in carbon fiber vinyl:

I came across this picture online, wondering if anyone on here has attempted updating their wheel or installed an aftermarket wheel.

I have my old "basic" S40 wheel laying around. It doesn't have the button controls, which we don't need on the 850, but I'm curious if I could hook up the horn and air bag to still work properly.

Does anyone have any pictures of the 850 wheel with the airbag cover off? I'm curious to compare the mounting points to that of my S40 wheel.

Replaced the power steering pump, reservoir, and pulley, which has thankfully alleviated all of the strange steering problems we were having.

I also hacked off the rusty exhaust tip and mounted a shiny new one:

I've considered dipping my trim on my roof, pretty pain free?

If you know how to work with plasti-dip, it's not bad. Multiple coats, and you have to re-tape it each time, otherwise the tape will peel up layers of plasti-dip.

I generally don't like to use plasti-dip for these kinds of things (I plan on peeling it off the bumper trim and actually staining that), but it has held up great! Though, vinyl could also be a pain free option.

Also, before I dipped the roof trim, I took off all of the cracked rubber coating so it was a bare aluminum strip.
That's exactly whats happening with mine. Debating whether to risk it or just have someone professionally do it. I need to have the paint redone at some point as the clearcoat is starting to go in a few spots. Ill keep the dip method in mind though, let me know how it holds up

Replaced the droopy visor with a new one:

I have the droopy driver visor too! Where did you get the replacement one?

It's one of the things I got from a junkyard. $25, but well worth it. Especially after reading horror stories of people's scalps being penetrated by droopy visors in rear-ending collisions.

You might want to look for a visor with home link if you can find one. The one I got doesn't have functioning vanity lights, the wire was cut, but that's a minimal issue that's easily ignored.
Oh you can wire up the homelink ones? I wonder if the one from my S60 would fit.

I imagine it wouldn't be too hard. On my S40s, the wiring was all there, the homelink visors were plug and play.
You might want to do some more research on the matter though, as homelink was a pretty rare option in the 90s.
Home link is self contained and just uses the same power wires as the mirror lights.
