Bringing Home the 850

April 8, 2013 - Bringing home Bailey's first car

It's VERY clean, 181k miles and a clean title. All maintenance is up to date, the only thing we need to do is replace the shocks.

I'll post more pictures after we detail it this weekend.

Here's a picture with my S40 (be sure to check out my S40 progression thread!)

Her name is Bailey??? That sounds delicious.....

That is super-clean. But it's missing a hatch!! (Guess that makes it less "wagon-ey") Nice find! I'm only going to replace my 855 for another 855, R or T5 edition, or V70R, in as nice condition as that one.

I thought the spoiler you bought looked like a wagon spoiler. No wonder it was so cheap.

Yeah, we've been looking for an older sedan since December. Finally found one in good condition for the right price!
Wait, you have an extra wagon spoiler? How much you want for it?

No, bootsie thought it was a wagon spoiler. It's a sedan spoiler I got for this car.

Aw. I got all excited.

The car does look good though. I like it!
Hey.....I think I have some silver X70 handles, if you wanted them. I could do like $30 shipped. I have to look again though, make sure I still have them.

Thanks for the offer! But we're going to keep a black theme to this.

Bailey told me she might want to make the car matte black, or have it professionally dipped. I think I fell in love with her a little bit more when she said that :)

There will be some "girly" touches added to the car too, but nothing too extreme. Just the subtle things that others will see and acknowledge as a girl who cares about cars.

Cool cool. Let me know if you change your mind or if you want them to dip/paint. I don't know how much you know about the older cars, but X70 handles on 850s look sooooo much better (IMO).
Wow, that thing is seriously sharp! I think if she follows in your footsteps, she'll have one classy car, that might potentially get more attention, given it's near classic status. I'm not feeling the flat black idea. But a good part of that is because the paint on this car looks so nice! I'd take advantage of that, and customize in other ways.

But no matter what, that was a good find. I will be following the progression

Oh, and for a "girly" touch, how about a heart shaped exhaust tip?

On second thought, you probably want to be able to drive this car yourself, on occasion.....

I'm feeling lazy tonight so I'm not going to extensively search (go ahead, shun me). How can I remove the wood grain dash? Everything I seem to find only shows removing the portion around the shifter or the top of the dash.
:p:thumbup::beer: gonna wrap it eh?
Just doing what Bailey wants; not giving it away just yet. ;)

It's molded in. You'd have to swap the whole dash, IIRC.

Plasti-dipped the waterfall grille, but left the frame chrome. I also removed the front license plate.

Yes, the car is dirty. Waiting for GA pollen to pass before we bother washing it.

Installed the lower grilles (wet because I just washed the car).

Also added some SwedeSpeed decals :D

Nice mod. I was thinking about doing that for awhile.... How hard was it? How long did it take?
