I'm not surprised that an official list changes for MY24 hasn't appeared. When I was waiting to order my MY22, the "official" specs kept changing until May when I placed the order. Now we have the still-lingering chip shortage that has carmakers putting disclaimers on their websites and order confirmations about what the car does or doesn't have. The only MY24 "leak" (and it's not a leak, it was buried in some official Volvo marketing announcement) that I have seen is that the MY24 XC60 will be getting an upgraded internal charger to 7.4kW from the current 3.6 (I think) which I've been told will decrease charging time by about 40% if you have 220v/40a or better current.Has any of you got access to the official list of changes for MY24 (production from CW22 so end of May)?
Well, the reason is that orders placed around now might be borderline MY23/MY24: whoever wants to get MY23, better places the order asap. On the contrary, if MY24 has some interesting improvement, then better wait a few weeks before order.I wouldn't start thinking about looking for 24 specs until April at least. There has been so much turmoil the last few years that I'm sure they are scrambling like crazy right now to pin things down.
In general, most carmakers change MY on week 22. There is another change on week 45 (should be what Volvo calls "early/late"). All what you see in the product configurator (since December) is already MY24 so the differences vs MY23 should be documented somewhere. At this time last year, the 2022.5 vehicles weren't even being produced yet. I ordered my 2022.5 XC60 in March and got it in June. All the discussion this time last year was how different the 2022.5 cars were from 2022.0 cars...
Thanks. Not surprising that they want to streamline the offerings a bit. Here is what I hear on spec for NA. On the XC60 specifically, there will be no more Bright theme. I have also heard that there will be no more B6, and they expect to sell a higher percentage of Recharge models for MY24 - essentially, if someone wants more power, yet another reason to go with it. The order book isn't open yet but I have a sort of inside track.
Thanks @thecanadaman. I think this makes sense as they move toward 100% electrification. I plan to trade in my '22 (non-ER) toward the '24 model. I have heard that Volvo will upgrade the internal chargers in all PHEV's to a 7.4 kW charger in '24. Any intel on that? Here is what I hear on spec for NA. I wonder if T6 PHEV is finally coming to NA?I have also heard that there will be no more B6, and they expect to sell a higher percentage of Recharge models for MY24 - essentially, if someone wants more power, yet another reason to go with it.
Thanks for the link. If that happens and the price difference is significant I would definitely consider "downgrading" in 2024 from my T8 to a slightly slower T6. I do not need the extra power. In 18 months of ownership I have untilized maximum acceleration on my car exactly once and that was just to experience it. It's fast, but it's not much use to me.I wonder if T6 PHEV is finally coming to NA?
"Volvo XC60 Recharge hybrid (PHEV) was at least as much about speed as it was efficiency when the T8 launched. In 2020, the XC60 Recharge range was expanded to include a new T6 entry-level model, making it more affordable... all versions of the XC60 Recharge are rapid. Even the base T6 model sprints from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds, with the standard T8 completing the benchmark in 4.9 seconds."

From what I know, this is true for the XC60 mild hybrid models, but not for XC60 PHEV. MY24 charger will be 6.4 kWh (not 7.4 kWh). Starting with MY24 late, there will be no fuel-powered parking heater anymore. I don't know exactly when the order book has been opened, but according to my dealer MY23 was closed around Sep 22. Mine (XC60 T8 U Bright, ordered Feb 22) got automatically updated to MY24 by Volvo while keeping the order. Delivery is expected mid to end June 23.On the XC60 specifically, there will be no more Bright theme. (...) The order book isn't open yet but I have a sort of inside track.
I didn't even realize this existed -Starting with MY24 late, there will be no fuel-powered parking heater anymore.
Thanks, DFrantz, always appreciate your (somewhat) insider's perspective.I wouldn't expect a T6 PHEV here... every time I've asked to anyone who might have an inside perspective I get a pretty solid no. Not that my sources run too deep, but it doesn't seem to be in the works.
Dropping B6 from XC60 would make sense for the same reason they dropped T6 from S60 a few years back. Some people will car, most don't care at all. Dropping the Bright theme I would be surprised to see on XC60. It's the highest volume car for us, and interest is by no means only towards the Dark. However, it is what the did for S60, so perhaps they will. Perhaps Ultimate will still be bright.
We still are getting a few 2023 orders.. but it's dwindling. I'm sorta expecting an early 2024 launch. That's mostly speculation. But model year changes allow for big price adjustments, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the gab between T8s and B5s get smaller. Which one moves is anyones guess, though even with the lack of tax credits, it's not hard to sell the T8s... so there is that.
Becasue the HVCH is working out sooooooo well for Volvo..From what I know, this is true for the XC60 mild hybrid models, but not for XC60 PHEV. MY24 charger will be 6.4 kWh (not 7.4 kWh). Well there's plenty of time until next winter to catch up on part supply...Becasue the HVCH is working out sooooooo well for Volvo..
It exists on the market of the EU and the rest of the worldI didn't even realize this existed -
"If you do not want the car's fuel-driven heater to start during preconditioning, activate Indoor parking, see Preconditioning - parking inside. However, this may prolong the warming-up time."
Your order info is of interest. I ordered an XC60 Plus T8 Bright on 21Feb. Expecting delivery end of May to mid-June.
