Hey fellas,
Well, I figured I would post a brief overview of what was done to the C70 over the winter. Hopefully it will be useful to someone planning the same thing. I'll start from the beginning.....
Mid-November: While drving to meet some friends for my 25th bday my timing belt tensioner goes, causing the t-belt to slip and bending all my valves. I am peeved but figure this would be a good time to do a full rebuild.
Late November-December: Start ordering parts. As of today parts ordered include: SPM forged rods, Venolia pistons, rod bolts, bearings, ARP head studs, ported/polished head, custom Inconel valves, cryo'd valve springs, new retainers, valve guides, ported n/a intake manifold, ported exhaust manifold, n/a throttle body, GT-3076r WG turbo, new RIP kit, EST Intercooler, SPEC clutch, RC 650cc injectors, walbro fuel pump.
January-present: The biggest hurdle so far was waiting on parts to get in. It took close to three months on the pistons/rods but all parts have arrived. A shop in NJ was in charge of all the port work. As of last week everything is complete minus balancing of the pistons/rods. I also had the intake manifold, exhaust manifold and valve cover jet-hot coated. This should look nice and also keep underhood heat to a minimum. It also should help with the heatsoak issue running a RIP kit. I am picking everything up tomorrow and then re-assembly can begin. In addition to the engine rebuild I also picked up a set of KW Variant 2 coilovers and have begun an interior swap from tan to black. I am going with the Civinco piggyback system to control the fuel as the stock ecu would more than likely have problems. I am hoping to have the car running and tuned within the next 3-4 weeks. You might be asking why I would be running a ported stock exhaust manifold with the 3076. It isn't the ideal choice but I am waiting on a custom tubular exhaust manifold and will be swapping the stock ported manifold over to my S70 when the new parts come in. I will keep this thread updated as progress is made.
regards,
Matt
new suspension

Pistons and Rods

New interior

Geez! That is going to be a beast!!!
Are you going to get LSD for more traction...and what's the maximum boost you suspect to get with this deal? It's sick! Mega kudos for doing it more-or-less right.
So, what did you have on the car before installing the coilovers?
Hope it brings you joy when all is said and done!
Cheers,
Prospero
Re: My winter (Prospero)

Hey there,
Thanks, im really looking forward to getting the car back on the road and tuned. Unfortunately right now im not going to be using an lsd. The one nice thing is that I haven't put a dollar of the rebuild on a credit card as of yet and I plan on keeping it that way. As for the car before I had the Vogtland lowering springs that were on it when purchased. The car sat a little high with those and the 19's so I figured I need something a little better.
regards,
Matt

You lucky SOB I wish I were rich...
How much did the seats cost? Also, is it just the seats or the whole interior?

Even in my wife's S70 T5 with some mods the need is to the point I'm going to get one before the new-year.
Good luck with all the work and you've got the right idea. Should be really nice when you're all done.
If you need a driver's side knee panel, I've got a perfect spare here at the house...
Cheers,
Prospero (also a Matt too.)

Hey fellas,
Yeah, I actually would be interested in any black panels you had. It has been a pain and the wait sucks but I don't want to rush it and mess something up. Thanks for the kind words.
Matt

I'm still waiting on a few parts to really wrap-up my K24 install and get the most for the $$$ spent. I'm still sitting on a 355mm big brake kit and magnaflow exhaust...just tormenting me to install them...
Anyhow, lemme know what you want to spend on the black knee panel and I'll get it shipped out to you. Also, what did you do with the old lowering springs you took off the C70? Maybe a deal of sorts can be made?
Cheers,
Prospero
