Hi folks,
I've been reading this forum for about a month in anticipation of getting my new car, which arrived just over a week ago.
It's a 2.4T SE Auto, Venetian Red Pearl, Oak/Arena upholstery, Sports Leather, Sunroof, Winter pack, 17ins Thor alloys. I should mention that I'm in the U.K. as I know many of you are in N. America, where specs and trim colours, etc. are different, as are prices (lower, especially gas!).
I previously had a 850 2.5 20V, which I was very happy with.
My impressions with the S60 so far is that it is much more refined than the 850. Seats are even more comfortable and supportive than the 850 which was probably the best in it's day. Gearing is higher and performance appears better than the 850, although engine is still "tight' and I am being careful and taking it easy for the first 1200-1500 miles or so, although handbook doesn't mention this.
All in all a great car, with no real problems yet, and none anticipated.
Phil

I have a 2001 model and at 6800 miles have not really had any significant trouble, other than a remote that has some sticky buttons that caused my alarm to go off and open the boot lid unexpectedly. Also, my glove box door rattles and this will be looked at when the 7500 mile service is done. I live in the US and have the Ash Gold Metallic with cold weather/premium and touring packages. Metis 16" wheel.
Regards,
Jim DeSalvio

I, too, had a rattle around the glovebox area, then it went away. I found a 2 inch long 1/8" diameter black steel pin on the carpet under the glovebox. I suspect this is what caused the rattle. It's a nice pin, good chamfer on both ends. The only thing I can figure is it's an alignment pin for some assembly procedure (hope it's not a hinge pin for the climate control air blend door or something important like that!!)
I've had the boot (trunk, for us guys in the US) pop open at random intervals (probably the sticky buttons on the remote)
Other than that, the car has run flawlessly.

Talk to your Service Department and they will order some type of tape that will go into certain areas of the glovebox and that will take care of it. My car has 14100 miles and I have had that rattle for about a thousand miles, now. I just ordered the part and will take care of it next week.
Yannis
