When filling up the wagon, gas nozzles don’t shut off properly prior to my pouring too much gas into the tank. It’s not a huge deal—when the gauge hits empty I’ve room for about 8 gallons—but last night was my second time overflowing and it is fairly annoying. I didn’t have this issue on my 122S, so is this just a shrug-quirk kind of thing, or could there actually be some diagnosable reason behind it?

Re: My Gas Tank Overfloweth (exizldelfuego)

By "wagon" I assume you mean the P220.
The filler neck on the 122 wagon is shaped differently than the 122 sedan.
When filling the wagon push the nozzle in as far as possible and don't use the keeper just squeeze the handle but not full speed with your hand. Stand back some and keep your face at a distance. When you hear the gas rising up in the filler neck...
George Dill

Re: My Gas Tank Overfloweth (gdill2)

Yea, 220. I had that as writing in a couple of places, but looks like I accidentally edited out of both . So the problem is what it is. I already do as suggested with the exception of going “full speed”. Next fill-up I’ll try filling half-speed near the end. If that doesn’t help, I’ll just stick to my eight-gallon rule. Thanks!

Don't try this but holding the nozzle USD may allow the auto-off to function sooner.
George Dill

Normally this is only a problem on hard right turns.
You should be able to get by with about 10 gallons in the tank.
When you park it on a side slope be SURE the filler is on the high side!
---the voice of experience, owner of 2 220s (neither operational at the moment)
