Since picking up my '01 S80 T6 on Monday, I've been able to drive it in many different situations (having the week off certainly helped...) & am very pleased with my decision. It's very sure-footed (it came with a set of Toyo Proxes TPT's), and I'm very (pleasantly) surprised with the gas mileage: Having gone through roughly a tank and a half over the course of a city/highway combined 435 miles, my on-board computer is telling me that I am currently averaging 19.9 mpg. Maybe I'm just used to stopping at every gas station in the '96 Yukon (5.7L V8) that I traded in on this car, but this is amazing.

There are a couple of things that need attention; the moonroof rattles a little so I'll need to tighten up those screws, it might need a driver's side strut mount because it has a bit of a rattle when I drive over washboard/train tracks (but I don't think I should be surprised by that based on what I've read), and it looks like it's been washed, often, in a car wash with the spinning rags of death so I'll need to give it a day's worth of attention with some polish when the temperature gets above the mid-thirties for a while.

One thing of note; this afternoon on the highway I noticed a message on the dash that indicated:

Bulb Failure
Position Light

I checked all of the exterior lamps when I stopped, and everything seemed okay. So my question of course, is what's a position light and where is it?

Re: My first week's impressions... (Muskoka)

It is in your rear tail light assembly. The centre tail lamp bulbs that light up when the headlight switch is set to "on".

Just turn on your headlamp switch and then go stand behind the car you'll see which one is out (hint... there are two in each tail light).

Then just... 1) open trunk 2) remove rear felt material side panel piece 3) wiggle bulb till it lights up. done.

If this does not fix it then you may actually have a burnt out bulb.

Thanks very much. They appeared okay when I checked them this afternoon, but I'll take a closer look.

You're in Toronto too? Are you downtown or GTA?

Downtown. I kept getting the bulb failure message because the streets around here are so rough and the bulb kept shaking loose.

The benefit of living downtown is that after 3 years my car has only 37,000 km so far.

Living and working downtown is great. My office is at Yonge & Queen and am 5km door to door.

I know the rough streets well: All my taillight took was a little wiggle.
