I made an exchange of services with a friend of mine. I would design his website, and his handy work and tools would make me a cold air intake. Its not like I absolutely needed it and we actually both did most of the work on my car but oh well, I dont mind doing web work.
Some things still need touching up but its mechanically complete. Pads seal up against hood.

Our original plan was to duct air in from behind the front grill but then the evolve hood grills came to mind. They made the job much easier.

I decided im not going to try and re-sell the car and isntead am just gonna drive it to the ground so I had no problem cutting into the hood, something I woulda never even considered just months ago. But I think it looks pretty mean with the hood grille.

Impressions: Responce is ever so slightly better. Feels like it travels much smoother through RPM range. Very impressed with the sound at high RPM's, really growls when you step on it. Now sounds like a turbo despite being NA. haha.

My hood grills are still sitting in the box. I will probably wait until I get bored again before I decide to do an intake and install the grills as well. I have a feeling it won't be too long...

Re: (Copeland)

yup! i got the dovers just in case... i would have never thought of doing this mod had i lived somewhere rainy but so. cal is sunny about 98% of the time so I dont mind putting that thing on the remaining 2%. I think I am gonna get a water shedding jacket for the filter just incase its raining hard because the cover still lets in some water I noticed from when I washed my car. I guess those could be the days I take the 240SX TO WORK AND SCHOOL! haha

If I was actually going for number gains, (if my car was fast like say an R) I would duct behind the grill and bore out my throttle body and maybe try and find a wider mass air flow sensor. The things seem very restrictive, at least on my car, they are only like 2 inches wide. Maybe 2 and 1/4.

Also wouldnt two possibly alleviate heat?

You know, I just noticed that they are installed with the wide part on the bottom. For some reason I thought they were supposed to be the other way. Silly me...
