A few weeks ago I had a CD stuck in my player in "loading" mode. It wouldn't finish loading, or eject it, I had to take it to the dealership - they replaced the player. A second CD I popped in - it got stuck again, with the same "loading" mode, all I can hear is quiet "hiss, ..., hiss" every once in a while. Oh, the CD's fully inside. Sounds like it's trying to load a disk but something is holding it back. I'm using celf-burnt CD's (and have been since day one, never had a problem before). Anybody else with such experience?

Re: My car ate a CD... Again (d_man)

I had a similar issue with a DualDisc, but I think that had to do with the increased thickness of that particular format. In my case it just gets kicked out of the slot, though. Frustrating.
As for your CD's getting stuck...in my old car only certain brands of recordable CDs would play. Perhaps switching to a different brand might help.

Re: My car ate a CD... Again (vlv4life)

I have a few brands (accumulated over a period of time). What bugs me that it's been a OK for about 1.5 yrs, and just started. Now I really miss iPod integration for our car
Anybody know how to remove the CD myself? There's no point going to the dealer and getting one more player replaced...

hey d_man... this happened to me before when i borrowed a friend's burned cd. i got freaked out. i called the dealership and they told me just keep playing with it... just to press eject a few times... (obviously, that didnt work), if that didnt work... to take out the key from the ignition, waiting a couple of minutes, then starting up the car and playing with it a little bit. just repeat those steps if necessary... it usually works. and id stop using those discs if i were you
I've had similar problems. But they always went away after parking the car for a few hours like at work for the day or at home overnight. I'd hit eject again after just starting the car and the problematic disk would be ejected.

Re: My car ate a CD... Again (Seitch)

Steve, I do not use paper sticky labels
I did hit eject a number of times, tried to reboot the car, to no avail
I guess what I'm looking for right now is know-how for opening up the front panel and getting access to the disk. Anybody know how to do it? Slight pull applied to that square panel around CR slot didn't produce a result, dont wanna break things with brute force
