Awhile ago Volvo added software updates to the Volvo cars app. I called the dealer and they said there are no updates for my vehicle. Yet the app says there are.
See the screen shot below.
My car runs perfectly except for the left hand side view mirror. I'm glad they don't want to do the updates. If it ain't broke!

Go to your car. On the screen, swipe right-to-left. Open "download" app. Check there to see if "system" and/or "app" updates are available.

Before AA OS came out, Volvo released updates every 45-60 days for MY2018-2021, which mostly related to the engine and gearbox. There were 7-8 updates per year

Pre android automotive cars in the US need to be taken to the dealership to have updates applied. They will typically charge unless the update fixes something specifically covered under warranty.

The first two years were free updating and Volvo boasted about it, later they introduced payment.
It will be the same with AA OS
