The following is just a rant on how happy I am...Hello all,
I just became an owner officially two weeks ago. I ditched my gas guzzling Dodge Durango for what I believe is the best kept secret around.....a 2004 V70R.
I test drove sooo many cars and decided on the Volvo for several reasons.
I drove the following:
Land Rover LR3- Horrible ride
Acura MDX- Felt like I was driving a Civic
Audi A4 Avant- too small
Audi Allroad 2.7T- too afraid of it breaking down
Audi Allroad 4.2- felt heavy
Volvo V70 2.4- nice, but a bit like a Barry Manillow song
BMW 540 wagon-Nice but the back was a bit too small

After lots of research, I found by beauty up in Denver Colorado. Its an 04 with 48K. I only paid 15,900 for it. Best bang for the buck around. The car was at a nice BMW dealership, but I still had it inspected by Volvo Specialists out of Denver (they were awesome) After recommending some minor repairs, I bought it and had it shipped to CA.
I LOVE THIS CAR. It is fun, nice and a thrill to drive. Not to mention, I can haul all my gear and throw our 100lb Doberman Pincher in the back.

Best car around, now I just hope its reliable.

Thanks to all that I sent PM's to and I look forward to putting miles on the car.
Can anyone tell me how to add an image to my post??

Welcome!

Enjoy your '04 R, as you can see from my signature, I think it's great too!

However, reliable....good luck. The '04's are hit or miss, so hopefully you have purchased an extended warranty. If not, get one soon, you're almost over the mileage limit.

What transmission do you have?

BTW. V70R Estate is redundant!
And the interior color is Gobi (as opposed to Nordkap (metallic blue) or Atacama (Pumpkin / nacho cheese)).

Welcome to the club. I've had my V70R for 15 months with no problems at all. Fun to drive -- comfortable on long trips -- and great for hauling stuff from Home Depot or Lowes! http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Welcome to R world. Congrats and good luck.
Just like any car it has its quirks, you should be able to find any answer to your problems here. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

He is definitely over the 4yr part of the OEM 4/50 so no VIP for him (and would cost an arm and a leg anyway). As Decaf mentioned, the 04's are hit or miss so I hope you got the service history and most/all of the updates have been done. Also hope you had a mechanic check it out before buying. Other than that.........enjoy (and the Hankook Ventus tires are pretty good for the $$$ with the proper load rating to boot).

I love both my 04's. They have had a few little issues here and there. I did buy mine certified so I have little more peace of mind. If I were you, I would check into a warranty, or a least stash a little cash away for repairs when needed. Other than that, enjoy the ride! And you made the right choice with the VR. Now that I have the wagon, my wife wants here sedan gone, and another wagon to replace it.

I totally agree with you. With the arrival of our new baby, we had to get a bigger car to haul all of his gear. My wife wasn't crazy about getting an SUV, so I chose the V70R to replace her G35X. I love the car!!!

I also have an FRC with some mods

Re: My 04' Estate is the Best smart man's SUV under $20,000 (MagoonR)

I am a bit worried about the reliability. I can get a full coverage warranty for $2000 through a friend that ownes a car dealership. I think that with the cost that the manual transmission might cost to fix, it would be worth it. The car was maintained at every interval and it appears that whomever had it, took great care of it.
Since I had requests for the dog and corvette, here you go. The vette pic was taken at Laugna last year.

Hey Jeff, any chance you could resize those pictures to make them easier to view? Maybe host them with Google photos and paste a thumbnail here with a link to the full size photo on the Google album?

Photobucket is much better.

Remember that a clutch is a wear and tear item.
