Our 2000 V70R has been very reliable since we bought it nearly two years ago (only repair needed was a power steering rack) - 150K miles now.
However, as of late, there have been a few issues that we know will require attention; some likely sooner than later:
A/C
Sometime (1) it blows cold, (2) sometimes it will blow cold for 10 minutes and then warm thereafter and (3) now the Electronic Climate Control won't work at all. When we start the car up, the Recirculation and A/C lights now blink together and won't shut off. The fan control has ceased to work and the car won't blow any air at all as of today (regardless of the fan speed setting). No fuse problems...
Loss of power
Sometimes the car runs like a champ and sometimes the car feels like it is in limp-home mode until about 5,000 RPMs when full power comes back on. This issue is sporadic and very frustrating as you never know if you're going to have full power or no power
Strangely enough, I think every time the car goes into limp-home mode until 5,000 RPMs, the A/C will stop blowing cold but this may be my imagination.
Exhaust
I've noticed that the passenger side tailpipe is very oily inside the tip while the driver side is nice and clean. Also, once up to operating temperatire, the driver side exhaust tip is essentially blowing cool exhaust (no problem putting my hand on it or the muffler) while the passenger side is very hot, as expected. Is the "dual exhaust" on the 2000 not a true dual exhaust? Is something blocked?
TIA!
Regards,
Derek
