Is there a logical reason why a large number of Volvo owners do not have mud flaps installed on their cars?

Re: Mud Flaps - Front and Rear (cet1st)

Does life have to be logical?
When have mud flaps ever been standard? They've been optional on cars since they were invented.

Just asking the members for different points of views. Personally, I'm "Old school". I have always had mud flaps installed on all nine of my Volvo's since 1972.

Considering you're in Chicago, and get lots of snow, go ahead and install mudflaps. No big deal.
No need for them here in DC.

Re: Mud Flaps - Front and Rear (BenES)

I had 'em on my two S60's in northern Arizona where it snows (believe it or not). Now that we're "off the mountain", no need here and they did have a tendency to scrape when going over dry speed bumps and other road changes. Plus my wife agrees, that they would "ruin" the lines of the S80.
